Someone else may have the grey one and really like the red one you have, maybe a trade? If the red is well done, you may want to consider it...

I like what you have, but I think a wee bit of improvement can be had by straightening out the heat shields and getting some wiper caps from Rob at NeedsWings.
( oil catch can not a bad idea either )
I'd love to have the RED DCAI, but unfortunately all I'd have to trade is my silver beat up Gen 1 single CAI ........

Color matching is a $5 can of Rustoleum. P.O. had the driver side tube rubbing so there is a gauge mark on that side anyway so I wouldn't want to trade someone, it doesn't affect the functionality in anyway, but I know it's there.
I know I need nut covers but not a priority for me; I'd rather lighten for speed than spend $8 a piece for something that was ill-designed in the first place; If they did it right they would still be there as my 2003 Passat's have lasted and they have over 100k more miles and it's P.O. was much more abusive than the XF's. just a better design/ and implementation.
Thanks for the comments though

Tim

good for you, I'd rather do myself what I can, but my car isn't a show car, it's a DD and it's 100% mechanically sound. I also plasti-dipped a $20k Harley so I am definitely not a role model. Thanks for the comment though.

BTW Rustoleum universal metalliic soft iron is pretty close to our factory color of , I think, graphite. I am not sure if that's the "OEM" name for it.

Here are a couple of pictures of the current status of my engine bay. This area gets fiddled with all the time so it is subject to change at any moment. Some of you guys have some really beautiful engine bays . Not jealous, just admiring your efforts. Just like most people, the quality of the changes and the attachments greatly depend on the amount of cash (and time) available. I try not to look too “cheap”, but at the same time, the “12 year old” in me wants to show off.

I used a peel-able paint made by PlastiDip so I could return to stock in the future. I used a satin black on the RCM cover, and on the driver's side fuse box cover. I used red on the water tank cap. It takes about 5 or 6 coats to get the paint thick enough so that it can be peeled off easily.

I diddled around with some plastic edging for the heat shields and the perimeter edges, and some plastic red trim for highlights. I found both on ebay. I'm not real happy with the color of the edging (borders on pink-ish). I will probably buy a spray can of “blaze red” body paint and re-do the edging.

The red hose connectors are just dress-ups from PepBoys.

Eventually I will get the Chrysler emblem and the wings on the engine cover highlighted.

The picture with the green arrow is just to show where I put the 3-way switch for the Daytime Running Lights.

Absolutely beautiful engine bay.
I will be happy to supply any information you want. It will take a day or two (Super Bowl and all).
Do you have any particular area that you want photographed?
Sorry for any delay.

While I think it looks nice, I'm not sure that it's a good idea to paint the supercharger black, we're going to great lengths to keep 'em cool. Black is going to retain heat but maybe not a problem if it's not driven hard. None the less, it looks good.[/QUOTE]

I know this has been posted for quite a while but I must respond better late than never.
Black as a COLOR absorbs light causing heat. Black is plain and simple a color NOT A SUBSTANCE. It does not retain heat. If there is not light source there IS NO HEAT SOURCE.
Paint the under hood any color you want!
