Exclamation how to replace air filter in crossfire

I want to replace my air filters. Can anyone provide any documentation or instructional manuals that deal with this. The owners manual that I have has a small section on air filters and it just says to change them.

Remove the engine cover by first removing the two intake tubes and then lifting up on the back of the cover. Flip over and there are two panels on the bottom with 4 torx screws in each. Remove the screws, pull off the panels, and there are your filters. Reverse to install.

Thanks a million. I'll jump on that ASAP. I was wondering how to take the cover off without breaking it, again thanks.

Can someone please post a link of what size of screw driver I need to remove the torx screws?

Also I was shocked to see 2 air filters, I've never seen a car with more than one

Its ok
We were all new at one time . There's so much info on the forum for anything and everything

Here's a link to several PDF files in reference to the shop manuals for our cars. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html

After a little familirization with our cars you can see/answer many questions that come up. Feel free to ask us (the family) or PM me and I can help too.

Yes the car has 2 intake tubes that each run into their own filter then the clean air all goes into the throttle body. One draw back to this design is that those air filters sit atop the hot engine. It works but could be better.

Theres a mod where ppl cut a small portion of the front grill fin away from the spot where air flows into the air horns. Just look at where those flexitubes (air horns) sit behind the grill, you will see how about 2" of the grill is actually blocking those tubes. Take the grill off and cut a piece away on the back part or the grill, it wont show.

Buy a set of torx bits as you will need these for so much on these cars.
The engine cover seems like its gonna break when you pull it off but you will see its secured quite well, just work each corner at a time until you feel it pop

It's a 25 TORX, I just changed mine today. E-Z as pie. I used a set of 2 FRAM filters I got off eBay, $8 for the set. Next time I'll pay for the K&N's though.

Sorry, I beg to differ the T-27 fits both the NA and SRT-6 filter boxes.

T-25 does go in but is very loose and may end up damaging the socket.

The Torx bits are meant to be tight and when pushed in will jamb into position thus preventing the socket in the screw from being damaged. That is the way they are designed.

you'll get some variation in manufacturing. T27 were too big. Either that or my sockets are off.

The taper on the bit and screw will allow for some manufacturing error. They are tight but they will fit.

1. disconnect the 2 air hoses by pulling toward the front on each, leave them connected to the radiator header.
2. grasp the cover at the rear passenger side and lift.
3. do the same on the drivers side.
4. DO NOT grasp the cover by the flimsy front part, instead now grasp the fat part towards the front on both sides and lift.
to re-install :
1. place cover over the throttle body connector at the rear and center as best as possible, press down on both sides rear until you hear/feel the spring thingeys grab.
2. press down on the front fat sides until same happens.
3. put the 2 hoses back on reverse of removal.
