New muffler causing cat. converter problems?

Hey guys. I'm new to the forum, just got a crossfire a few weeks ago. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the quiet exhaust tone. So I was looking into getting a Megan Racing M-RS muffler to fix this problem. But before I got my crossfire, I have a Mit. Lancer OZ and I replaced the muffler on that. A few months later, the fix engine light comes on and the code reader guy says that the muffler let gases flow too freely and it damaged the cat. converter. Is this total bullcrap or the truth. I dont know. Does anyone have any input?

I did the delete of the resonator without any issues, less restriction better breathing. Woody

Delete your resonator, and put on a Megan or Ansa or Magnaflow, and you will be smiling. And, to answer your initial question, the guy that told you that was full of ****.

Oh, and if you really want to get even louder, you can remove your back 2 cats. Only the front 2 cats have the O2 sensors in them.

By the way, the resonator and OEM muffler are extremely heavy. Removing them will lighten the car thus increasing performance.

Heard the Megan muffler this weekend. It was quite loud, and supposed has a terrible drone at 60-65mph. Just heads up. Maybe the ansa would be a better choice as I believe it is quieter yet still a little beefier sound...

...unless you want really loud...then do whatever you gotta do.

I put a AAA Racing system on my Lancer and it sounded pretty rad. I heard the Megan series and they sound similar so I'm gunna try that one first. If that fails, I'll put the stock muffler back on and do what morgan says and take out the resonator or something.

Resonator delete with pipes that extend BEYOND the back, no drone and great sound, I have been told.

The shorter tips will couple sound pressure waves into the body and set up the stimulus for the chassis to resonate or DRONE.

I did this by testing and trial before settling on my setup.

Only the SRT's have a resonator
