Default It's time to do your HID's $40 delivered. - 02-08-2010 , 07:49 PM

I was poking around eBay and decided to look at the HID vendor I used and recommended way back when, and Lo and Behold his shipped price for H7's (headlights) and 9006 (foglights)
is down to $40 delivered. I called and asked-same manufacturer, so same quality. At this price it's hard to deny yourself the added safety and...well...cool look that this install will provide!

Here's my old writeup:

HID Install Lows and Fogs with Pictures

And here is a link to the vendor:

Dodge Magnum Xenon HID Conversion Kit 9006 h8 09 10 : eBay Motors (item 390143680498 end time Feb-14-10 00:39:18 PST)

(9006 foglights) and:

VW Touran Xenon HID Conversion Kit 08 09 10 H7 9003 H1 : eBay Motors (item 390143663899 end time Feb-13-10 22:46:56 PST)

(H7 Headlights)

Read the writeup and make sure to request the wire harness for the "Bulb Out" indicator. It's free.

Max,

Just thought I would post up where I got my HID lowbeams from. I bought them from HIDextra.com.

They are as plug and play as can be, no wires to strip or spades to clamp on. Just cut a hole in the cap, mount the bracket and plug and play the rest. I have had mine on for about 6-7k miles. Absolutely zero problems.

Thought I would post this up in case anyone is not up for a little extra electrical work.

P.S. Max I referred to your write-up a dozen+ times when I was doing my install... A+++

Z,

what's different about them? The step I included involving the removal and replacement of the spade connectors provided a watertight seal. Cutting the grommet to insert the spade connectors compromises this.

I just brought this up because the price has dropped so much.

Unfortunately, all of these plug-n-play HID kits are from the same Chinese vendors, just with different stickers.

So all of these sites selling these HID kits from 100-300$ (excluding mcculloch, other "high end" name brands), are the same exact as the eBay kits you're getting.

So yes, the $40 eBay kit (great deal!) is the same as every other one (for the most part) you can find on google for a variety of prices.

+1, unless you go really high end, they are all damn near the same.

Sorry maybe I misspoke. I don't think I meant grommet, as much as I meant headlight cap...no wait, I did say headlight cap.

Max, I thought you cut your cap for your headlight so the rubber grommet containing the wires fit in there??? that is what I did. Literally everything else is plug and play. Didn't have to strip any wires or anything.

EDIT: Just re-read your write up Max. We both did cut the caps (seeing as I followed your instructions for that part). However, then I did not have to add any spade connectors, all plug-n-play. I will check out my HIDs' later to see if my rickety old brain is failing me already.

I gotcha'-you cut little slits for the spade connectors and pushed them through. I refused to do that and wanted a true air/watertight seal. Hence the small drill bit and the R&R on the spades.

I'm just a bit anal-working in the vacuum industry for so long, I guess...

No no. They came already put through the grommet. Not cutting except for the headlight cap... like I said I'll try and get pics as soon as I can.

At this price I may have to try them again. I just went back to the regular headlights last night as the HID's I was using had an intermittent problem. I thought I had it worked around that as long as I started the car first both would come on. But in the last two weeks that didn't help and now the one won't come on at all so the bulb might now be burnt out as I switched the ballasts between the two and the good bulb always came on and the "bad" one wouldn't.

At roughly $40 and a warranty, this might give me 2 years of satisfaction.

750 ml of Glenlivet.

But I will share! If not that, I'm really cheap. We can work something out, I'm sure.

Just have that vital tool handy in the engine compartment....a can of beer.

So I guess I'll go with the H7 6000K set as they are just shy of getting into the bluish color.

I think i may just have to order mine tomorrow am. I had a headlight go out and for some reason the freaking fraking plug will not come off, I just keep pulling on the connector and the buld keeps lifting up stressing the retainer. But I figure onces I get them switched out so I dont get a ticket the others will come in. THe freaking Regular h7's are as much as the hids now.

Have you unlatched the retainer?

No I left it attached so I could pull the harness off? Should I go ahead and unclip it for some reason it doesn't wanna come around the harnes while it's attached to the bulb

If you are removing the H7 or the HID, you must unlatch from the bottom once the rubber cap is off. Where are you located?

Had the same problem when replacing a bulb the other day. Remove the clip first then you should be able to grab the plug and bulb with no problem.
