Default Horizontal Headlight adjustment?

I have read thru the threads and all I can find is that the horizontal adjustment can not be made. I can find nothing in the service manual about the adjustments. Each headlight has two adjustments as shown in the pics, but I can not figure out how to make it move, like it is locked. Is there a tool in the Crossfire Toolbox for this application?

I have not installed these lights yet, but would like to know how the adjustment works if needed once installed.

Thanks, James

I'll hazard a guess on this.
My headlight unit does not expose the bevel gear that yours shows as it is totally enclosed.
I would guess that the the top hole is totally exposed by removing that plug in it and a Torx bit is used to turn the bevel gears.
I suspect the plug is put in to deter tampering once the unit has been preset at the factory for left and right hand drive car set ups.
A screw could possibly be screwed into the plug and the plug pulled out unless it is glued in place.
I see no other reason for the bevel shown unless there is a matching gear not shown in the picture. If you look inside can you see the other gear?

One gear on each headlight is open to view. The other one is closed.

That must be the outboard ones you can barely see then.
But is there a second gear to be seen?
If you cannot see one gear then something like I described must do the turning.
I guess......
Or does the top outer ring come off, it being a lock of some form?

So I got it correct then.
Sometimes these old codgers are smarter than you'd guess.

I just used needle nose pliers to grab the upper lip to remove the cover. A tiny flat blade to wiggle it loose also worked.

James1549 made a post or thread on the subject some time back, I have forgotten the details though.
Edit
Oops! It was this thread he started sorry, but I did remember it 9 years later though.
As to the size just measure the hole an find an screw extractor or something that will bite. A screw extractor with a large taper may bottom out to soon.
