Default Replacement headlight covers

Hey everyone,

I'm new here, just bought an 04 crossfire. Love it!
Does anyone know where I can get replacement headlight cover? I tried using one of those kits to get them clear again. But it didn't work as well as I thought. I've looked all over the Internet and can't find them. Don't want to call the dealership and get rapped.

I wet sanded mine with some fairly wore out 800 grit.. they were a nice yellow color when I started.. now you can't date the car by the lights.. lol. Finish off with your polish kit. "lenses" aren't an option.. otherwise about a 300-400 dollar date each headlight.. use the search feature.. you'll find aplenty on headlights.

Mine were getting pretty bad so I went for the sandpaper method as well.

600 grit wet sanded the entire lens, (even the parts that weren't bad, just so that it was all even). Mine still had a lot of the factory clearcoat on it, so it was a bit of a chore.

After the 600 I went over the lens again with 2000 grit wet sandpaper, and then rubbed Meguiar's PlastX HARD into the surface. They came out good, but have hazed up since (I didn't wax or anything after).

I'm planning on trying to locate 3000 grit sandpaper or something and redoing them again, this time with some different plastic polish. But the result is still WAY better than the yellow/crusty alternative.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Feel free to PM me if you have questions about the method (but there are also numerous articles on the forum about it).

If really bad, start with 400, then 600, 800, 1000, 1200 or 1500, finish with 2000. Then get some good ultrafine polish, and I use a 6" random orbit polisher. I like the Simonize headlight kit for the clearcoat dissolving spray and pre polish rubbing compound. When finished, either have them re clear coated, or better, apply the Laminex 20 mil vinyl overlay. it provides both impact and UV protection which is what hazes unprotected lenses. I can make a headlight look better than new.

After reading the first reply on this I went and got 600 and 1000 grid. Started with 600 and and finished with the 1000. Use the sealant that came with the kit I had bought that didn't work. They look good until the sealant drys out. Then the look all hazy again. I'm about ready to just replace the damn things.

Did you wet sand till no more yellow water? The blue magic headlight restorer at Dollar general $5 really does a good job of a final polish.. My daughters 05 camary has yellowed headlights.. I pulled it out of the crossfire and polished a 3" circle right quick on each light.. night and day difference in that 2 minutes.. handed it to her and said now you know how to fix it. Bought the Blue magic headlight sealer on Ebay, and close to a month now they still look great. Applied a wet coat and let it dry then just gave a quick "dry" micro fiber towel buff.

I'm in Oregon Ohio, I did wet sand them, I spent like an hour on each one. But again I only used 600 and then 1000. Then the sealant....Am I missing a step?

If you go with the 3M kit and follow the directions, you will be happy with the results.

Meguier's or 3M - I don't think there is really a big difference between them.
Both will give the desired results if used correctly, and both cost about the same.

That's conservative. The guy I bought the old set from paid $1600 for his new ones.

You can find them on E-Bay from time to time, BUT be prepared to pay $300-$400 EVEN for a used one, OR $600-$700 for a New one.

And here's the other one:

Someone has a complete crossfire on Ebay.nl at the moment.

Goodluck with the hunt.
