Default LED vs HID H7

Anybody have LED vs. HID H7 opinions a potential consumer should consider?

My HID's don't last long and want to give LED a try ONLY if reliability is good, fit is easy and output power is excellent.

Opinions and experience welcome

Sounds like you're using shitty HIDs to me. Have you read up on my posts regarding LEDs and HIDs in general around here? It would help you out a lot, and my LED bulb guide for the car is stickied on top of this page.

Anyway, you need to run decent HIDs in the car, and you won't have issues. Example A is Morimoto H7 HIDs from TRS in my 2004: See attachment.

LEDs do not work inside projector or reflector based housings whatsoever. Our cars utilize a variant of the E55 from Hela, which is originally an HID projector setup, only retrofitted for halogen bulbs.

There is no way for LEDs to work inside a projector made for HIDs/halogen bulbs, because the light refraction patterns cannot be the same as the HID/halogen bulbs the LED is trying to mimic. LEDs require purpose built projector modules for each individual LED chip to properly project the light. Sticking an LED bulb tower into the halogen socket will not work.

EDIT: My moritmoto kit has been running strong for over 3 years, but I recently upgraded it to the new XB style kits because of the design changes and even better output. The picture attached is the new XB units in place.

I can vouch for the Morimoto setup. I have a pair of Morimoto kits for my low beams as well. I actually have an extra set for sale over in the classifieds section. See https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...kit-5000k.html

Still searching for something for the high beams that will match the color temp of my HIDs. There are plenty of LED H7 kits out there, but what Adrian says makes sense.

What they said. Also getting a good brand of HID will produce a better light output than using a LED.
