Default Convertible top troubleshooting

I am New to CF.org recently purchased an '05 Xfire roadster with a non-functional top . I figured this would be a good project. After doing research I have learned that I am missing a part that goes in the trunk . I am looking for insight on steps to take to restore its functionality or if an existing thread is out there point me in the right direction .

I twist the release , the windows roll down, and nothing happens beyond that point. Also the light on the release button is always flashing.

You will need to give more info about what is missing in the trunk. Where in NC are you? I am in Greensboro and could possibly help.

Yes, the divider must be up. The arm on the left end of the divider will then press on and close the switch, allowing the top system to run.

You are not far from our Spring Event - you might want to consider attending - it is a tremendous way to learn about the car you have.
Not only that, but you will meet a tremendous group of people:

Sounds like I need to start by looking into a divider.

Why would someone take the divider out?

The divider is not there? It's just the big carpet covered, folding piece that has the finger/hand hold in it. If the divider is missing, you could always put a rubber band around the switch to hold it closed and try the top again. The switch is over on the left side where the little arm of the divider clicks into place.

When I was "new" to roadsters.. the wife's car had the divider laid down and that switch has been hard wired or something.. (never have checked it out).. top worked fine.. didn't realize just how things worked till the top crushed an Armor All gift pack. That is when I realized that panel laying down was the "divider panel".. do you see the tank and sending unit-wires when you open the trunk? Or a carpeted piece laying back up in there?
