Exclamation Took my car out for a SPIN today

Hello friends,

I am the proud owner of a black 2005 roadster limited. Today i saw my first crossfire (red roadster with new jersey? plates) out in the wild (besides my own) and felt like that was gonna be the high point of my day, but, it got a whole lot better*. I got my crossfire about 2 weeks ago and have only driven it a little and today was my first day driving it in heavy rain, i was getting off on an exit in the highway and i guess i was going too fast and my car started hydroplaning and that hydro plane turned into a full on clockwise spin, now i was in shock because well, who expects to be driving one way and 1 second later you're watching the cars behind you from your front windshield. Anyways in the beginning of my spin i accepted the fact that i was gonna crash into the wall and braced for impact but by the time i had completed my second full 360 turn I thought "Hey, maybe i don't have to crash" so at that point i decided to regain control of my life and my car and did a little course correcting and by the end of the 3rd 360 i ended up driving on the road like nothing at all had happened. after everything was ok i stopped at a light and thought to myself, wait, did that really just happen?????? i immediately grabbed my phone (not while in motion) and called my dad to tell him the great news all excitedly but arrived home to find a very angry mother

Now, I am 19 years old and to be honest maybe a little bit stupid when it comes to safety, i actually remembered after the fact that the car does have a w mode which i think stands for weather and also a button that is probably the traction control system. So if anyone was on i-595 taking the flamingo exit today they got one hell of a show i only wish i could've recorded it. So has anyone else here spun out and exited without a scratch on the car? Bu the way i did learn my lesson and do not plan on going for any more surprise carnival rides anytime in the near future. IF you have gotten this far thank you for reading and i would love to hear your thoughts about this.

this is my car sorry i am too lazy to upload any pictures to my computer

TL;DR - car spun out because of rain

Geez, glad nobody got hurt, and car is ok. How much rain, and how are the tires?

Yep. What is the condition of the tires? Really important with a wide, short wheelbase.

The "W" is for Winter, not Wet. It alters the TCU to start off in second gear instead of first.
I did the same thing in a '67 Camero on the way to Denver when I was about your age, it had just started snowing to the north of Dallas,
I came up behind a Cadillac going maybe 20 MPH, pulled out to pass him and when I pulled back over I did 2 or 3 360's and luckily got it straight again without touching anything. I can still remember the look on the Cadillac drivers face each time I came around !

Learn the limits of your car and your abilities, the car is fine with good tires. Your abilities do not seem to good, lucky this time though.
Remember the person you kill or maim through stupidity may be not be yourself and that would be a pity.

it was a lot of rain very low visibility and my tires are really wide i cant really tell you how wide but i am pretty sure these are custom, also the thread has been checked and rechecked by everyone i tell the story to and they all agree it is fine.

A friend of mine lost his only daughter and only grandchild to an idiot behind the wheel who got away with minor injuries after T boning the other car. I have little sympathy for people going too fast for the conditions.

Everyone is subject to thier own, personal, learning curve.
Most learn the limits without mishap or disaster. Some, sadly, do not.

I lost a dear friend to a drunk driver. I guess I get pissed-off at them.

But, "Too fast for conditions"?
Who here hasn't been there and done that?

If I lashed out at anyone who crossed my line...wait...I do that too!

My bad.

Ok, sir. Have at 'im...

Well . . . he knows that he needs to improve his driving skills. Only experience can accomplish that and he just got a good dose of experience. We need to get him up to the TOD GTG. I have to note that he already has really good writing skills. I enjoyed reading his scary story . . .

Yep, yep.

But, maybe, a ride-along first? I'd hate to see him follow John "down the hill"!

I think Nick is coming, he'll teach him the right way.
Have you decided yet ?

I've been given the thumbs-up from the boss. Maybe a one-nighter?

Watch what you say, this is a sore point with you know who, I got an earful for mentioning a sighting of a large black turtle on its back in a creek.
Where is the man anyway I want to see that car and how it turned out.

Hmmm...he's never given me any guff about chiding him. Maybe because Mollie likes me?

Like I said-it (slippery conditions) can happen to anyone, anytime. Well, when conditions permit, 'eh?

Aaahhhh-I love him. And he knows it! I'm looking into a one-nighter in October. Sure hope to see them!

Yes . . . I was thinking we'll encourage him to go behind Nick and he'll see exactly how much he has to learn.

I did a full 360 driving my dad's 1963 Galaxie 500 XL way back when. Was only 16 at the time and it was raining, but not severe. Anyway, took the exit ramp to NKC, MO off I-29/I-35 South. Hit the groove on the side of the lane and the car did a perfect 360. Didn't hit anything! Scared the "you know what" out of me. Inexperienced driver in a powerful car and less than optimum road conditions. I've never forgotten that incident!

Later,
