Default SRT-6 gear-**** replacement

I'm sure this has already been asked before but i'm too lazy to search so I figured i'd just ask.....lol.
  1. Does the factory SRT-6 **** twist-off like that of a normal shift **** in a M/T equipped car? Or is it physically attached to the gear stalk?
  2. If removeable, what is the thread pitch in the event that I decided to purchase a new **** to replace it?
Thanks!

Hello Mr. Lazy . . . Unscrew the lower piece on the shift **** and then simply lift off the **** itself.

I wonder what are some good replacements that don't look cheap or tacky! I was never a big fan of the factory silver clunky looking shift ****. I liked the manual gear shifter a lot more high class and a lot nicer! Don't understand why they didn't put something like that on there.

I have been looking at replacements but haven't found one I really like. Any pictures would be cool if you guys can think of something nice and fitting for our cars

I'm getting this shift **** . . . (actually two of them)

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/int...ear-****-black

and then our own ANDREW will be making me up some of the new style SRT6 emblem overlays in a custom 28mm round size to cover that Ripspeed logo emblem so it will look like this . . .

IMG_0968.jpg

The **** has to come from the UK (Karl Edmondson is helping me get a couple) and after buying and installing the custom made SRT6 overlays I'll have about $75.00 invested in each one. Nice quality and I think it will look great. I'll post a photo when I get them finished and installed. Karl hasn't shipped them to me yet so if anyone wants to jump in and get one let me know and I'll try to have Karl pick up some extra shift *****.

For those who do not have an SRT6, you can order this keyring and the emblem is exactly the correct size to remove and reattach onto the Ripspeed shift **** . . .

OK - I'm trying to have Karl get me SIX of the gear shift *****. I need two of them . . . cjm888 wants one and now power90801 wants one. I'll keep you advised of the status on this thread . . .

Edit Update: Karl has responded and has agreed to get SIX of the Ripspeed shift ***** for me. Accordingly, I have two extra ones available . . . First come / First served as I will not be asking him to get any more of them. Speak up now or miss out . . .

Andys auto sport carries quite a few that will fit, there are no threads. The Grant brand has some nice ***** and not expensive, about $30. Or do what I did, made my own.

Greetings all. I purchased a AMG logo with a carbon fiber grip a few years back. I think someone on this site was selling them. This shifter is awesome and looks like it could be a stock shifter grip. Anyone remember?

Ok one final question - what is our shifter's thread pitch?

*Edit - Per my research, it looks like it's an unthreaded shifter. I suppose that means in order to run a shift **** that wasn't "meant" for our cars i'd need one of these: http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/column/..._adapters.html

*Double edit - Well, no luck in removing the shift **** this evening. I'm at a loss trying to figure out how to remove it without damaging it. There is no feasible way I can find to remove it using just your hands/fingers. That bottom piece that is supposedly supposed to "twist off" is REALLY on there. My next dilehma is that the unthreaded shift adapters I found are only for BMW/Audi/VW/Mini/Chevy.....there isn't a Chrysler (or should I say Mercedes) specific option. That's why I threw in the towel on trying to remove the OEM **** for now. I don't want to risk damaging it only to not be able to replace it with the shift **** I want. I suppose my next step is figuring out if any of those adapters will work with our cars.

Here is the adapter: http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/shift-*****/knobinsert.php
