My Crossfire got bombed today
My Crossfire got bombed today
Yup that's right
The Meguiars Odor Eliminator Car Bomb
Thanks to the other thread Waldig started a couple months back I stopped and picked up a can of this stuff at Walmart for about $7
I bombed mine today and the new scent is great
Even the fresh scent is now even coming through the vents
It's easy to use....
Just start the car, close the windows, set the **** to all vent directions, Press the A/C button, press the recirculate button and turn the fan blower to high.
Set the can of Meguiars odor eliminator between the seats and be sure it is secure so it will not tip over
Press the trigger on top to start the bomb and shut the doors for 15 minutes
Once 15 minutes have passed shut off the car and open the windows and doors and the hatch if ya have a Coupe
Let it sit for about another 15 minutes before you get in and drive anywhere.
I will report back in a few weeks after I come back from my trip to the Tail of the Dragon in NC to let you know if it has lasting effects or not.

Re: My Crossfire got bombed today
so this is not a water leak. It's the actual smell of the car right? My car doesn't seem to leak at all but the smell is so weird so I thought it was a leak somewhere.

THE ISSUE IS THE GLUE ON THE HEADLINER!!!!!
When I recovered the headliner the smell went with it, and the top is now UP. I also did sound lining of the roof and made a dark color to improve driving visibility - less glare and reflections. Enjoy, WdY

Re: My Crossfire got bombed today
Has anyone ever installed a bordeaux convertible top? I think it'd look really sharp and "upmarket."

Re: My Crossfire got bombed today
It's funny that you guys are referencing the "Melted Crayons" smell. No one else brought up the reason for the smell so I figured I could offer some enlightenment.
Old BMW's, old Mercedes, and old VW's smell like this. They use a wax based CIC (corrosion inhibiting compound) on some of the interior metal surfaces of the car.
As a former old BMW (81 528i) owner, and current owner of 3 Jettas, I can tell you the big 3 Euro manufacturers smell like this. It can be hit or miss as far as how long it takes for the smell to begin to be noticed, some may never notice it.
My wife's 03 1.8T Jetta GLS has 226,000 miles on it and smells like a Crayola factory pretty much all of the time. My 03 1.8T Jetta GLS has 162,000 on it and has a hint of crayon smell on hot days (mines black, hers is silver).
