Default Engine issue

Hello forum im looking at an 04 Crossfire. The owner says engine has a knocking sound and that a mechanic checked it out and said it was timing chain related. Do these cars have issues with timing chain guides i haven't seen car in person yet going to see it sunday but was curious if that could be the problem.
