Default repair scam?

I have a 2006 Crossfire. I took it to a Fuccillo dealership for an oil change. When I went to pick it up, they said the driver's side front tire was worn almost to the metal. They said it also needed brakes. Now the original oil change is up to $600. Then they called a day later and said a more experienced technician looked at the car to see why the tire wore and said an inner tie rod and outer had to be replaced and something about the steering. They said if it was a Dodge the steering would cost $25 but because it's a Mercedes engine they had to order the entire steering linkage. Now the bill is $1750!!! Does all this sound above board or did they see a girl coming and take advantage? Also, I used to go to a local garage and an oil change cost about $110. The dealership charged $140.

Don't authorize ANY repairs. Pick up your car ASAP and get away from there as fast as possible! THAT'S exactly why we call them Stealerships!

You may, in fact, have some issues with your car but they can be fixed at a small FRACTION of what the Stealership hopes to take out of your pockets! Find a local shop that specializes in German car repairs or specifically Mercedes cars. When you find out from THEM what you might really need check here for direction on where to buy parts and prices.

Welcome to the forum!

First take a minute to do this so we know a bit more about you and your Crossfire and can better assist you without having to ask a lot of basic questions . . .

How many miles do you have on your 2006 Crossfire and what model is it (coupe roadster, etc.)? What city in NY do you live in??

Same thing happened to me. Ordered tires from Tire Rack, had them sent to NTB.
Always like NTB Cumming. Went in, all new faces. Was told they could not align the car and that my front end would ruin the tires JUST DRIVING HOME.
Repairs were $800. Told them to mount and balance the tires.

DRove to Kaufman tire. Asked them to align it. They checked it, said, "No charge your car is fine".

I told them to Align it and I'd pay the $80 - so they did. After they were done, he asked me, "Why did you insist we align it?" I told him that I was told the car was not "align able" and wanted to see "if you said the same thing when you got into it."

His response? "You just came from NTB, didn't you?"

Run away, Run away. You can change the oil yourself for ~$50. Google independent Mercedes repair.
