Join our Crossfires Across America Rally - St.Louis, Mo. June 22, 23 & 24 -2010 -

Guys and Gals,
I was watching a show on cable called "Mustangs Across America". I believe it was filmed a few years ago. They started in the Los Angeles area and drove to somewhere in the midwest.
One of the cable networks did the production work and they got a number of sponsors to participate. Several hundred started out from the beginning and they had a car show st the end location with thousands of other Mustangs joining in.
Just wondering how many would be interested in doing something similar, but coming from multiple points around the country. I was thinking to end at the geographical center of the contiguous 48 states. This point is just outside Lebanon, Kansas. It might be better to end it in a little larger city, perhaps St. Louis.
It will take some time to put this all together logistically and we would have to determine how many starting points there should be. Of course a committee would have to be formed to be the organizers in their region. Putting something like this together will probably take about a year. A target of Spring or Summer 2010 should work.
What do you all think?

The idea is an interesting one....I like it. Surely we could get some out of the extreme southeast to make the trip. As long as it isn't too close to the Dragon or Carlisle, I would definitely be in for the journey.

Been there, done that about 10 years ago with a bunch of AMC's showing up from as far West as Denver, from Canada, PA, and Florida.
It was the first and only time my AMX had ever been West of the Mississippi. Great Fathers day trip.
This time would be allot more comfortable in the Crossfire what with A/C and "no sidepipes"
I hope somebody in the St.Louis area can get this organized. It might be the easiest way for Crossfire owners from all over the map to finally get to meet and greet one and another.
Count me in.

Agreed on the conflict issue....we need to find a unique date.

Dates for this meet should probably avoid conflict with the planned 2010 meets.
Dragon meet (April & Oct)
Carlisle (July) and Woodward (Aug)
As most probably know all these other meets draw a large number of members already.
I look forward to see the feedback here as this would be a terrific event
Normally threads in this section are for a single post only with a link to a discussion thread in another section on the forum.
For this particular thread I will leave it here and open for ongoing replies as it seems to be the best place to organize a national meet.

It might be THE trip for many members who otherwise wouldn't think about traveling cross country to events like the Dragon.

Late May or early September seem to be about the only times to evenly space it out. How is the weather situation around there at those times? September is the height of hurricane season so I will be looking to get out of FL then anyway.

Kim,
It would depend on your starting point. I would think a group would start somewhere in Florida. Use something like Mapquest starting in Florida to KC, it will give you the distance. If you are talking about time, around 3 days to, 2-3 days there and 3 back (taking it easy).

This is a great idea. I did part of the Mini's Across America when I owned a Mini. There were a lot of people there. We took a tour around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There were about 250 Mini's that went around the track. Looking forward to a meeting.

Karl,
Set the date and I will start to manage a list of all who positively respond that they are able to make the date chosen and will actually make the trip.
Also let us know a specific town where this meet will occur.
I guess you need to find some nice hotel accommodations in a centrally located part of the US as well.
Let the planning begin.....
Come join me and other members at this fantastic upcoming Crossfire owners meet:
