It would be great if the events schedule and planning process could get into an alternating situation. One year CAA and the other CICCI. After all, we're all Crossfire Owners in the end, why not settle into something that works for everyone involved.
Looking forward to a Western United States CICCI event.
Of course I'll probably hit 80 myself before THAT ever happens!

I will be at the CAA event!

I agree, it is all about these cars and the people who drive them.

I realize that membership in CICCI is heavily skewed to the eastern half of the US, but how are we out west ever going to be "part" of all these events, including CAA if everything takes place in the east.

It appears that there are an inordinant number of events in the east and I am not insinuating that it is any kind of plot. But maybe we should all look at the possibility of looking to see if there aren't more things happening in all parts of the country.

We will NEVER grow participation from the west if we don't try to involve some of the people who live there.

Wedge and I were the only two from California with Tburris and Tighed1 joining us from Arizona to drive to the first CAA in St Louis. It was a LONG trip for us Wedge was close to 5000 miles round trip (I was at 4500).

Is the NC event built around Tail of the Dragon or in addition to?

Does your suggestion mean that in 2012 there will be no major get togethers in the east to encourage people to travel to Denver for CAA? I can't help but think that one of the reasons many didn't show up in St Louis was the abundance of other events back east.

Understand I am not attacking anyone here, just frustrated. I know ALL of us from out west that came to CAA in St Louis had a great time and really loved the opportunity to meet so many "forum names" face to face.

Looking forward to the opportunity when we can all get together yet again.

As the club grows and funds increase, relationships expand and we gain recognition, only good things can come from all of it. These things just take time, but it will happen if we all work together.

Again, club or no club, we all enjoy these cars and the people they bring together. That's all that really matters in the end, isn't it ?

Karl, I think the main thing is getting someone out west to put something together. To date that has not happened. It takes local folks doing the leg work to make things happen and no one from left coast has picked up that ball to run with it.

If a major event is planned and promoted, I think you will see things start to happen......but we can't do it from the east.

I understand your frustration....but it's mis-directed to the forum, club and to those that have worked hard to make the events in the east what they are. And, just as there were 4 of you that traveled far to St Louis, you will have a few that will venture far from the east. The group effort just hasn't developed out that way for some reason.

Please understand, this is just my opinion on the way it has evolved.

Danimal,

Agree with you....but I would like to see some concentrated effort on CAA. If we have to delay a year, fine, but then lets not dillute it with a lot of other events that makes people choose.

I know how hard it is to put events together. It has been difficult to get people just to meet out west.

I am not going to give up and challenge everyone out west to come up with some "local" ideas for a simple get together.

Update:

We are looking to make Durango as the base city. Plenty of awesome mountain and desert scenery. We are currently looking at the week of July 25 or August 1 for the date.

Been there many times...it's a cool town and we road the narrow gage railroad up to Silverton one day....VERY COOL.
If anyone wants to give up a day in the Crossfire for a most enjoyable train ride on the edge of the mountains ya won't be disappointed.
