Fall Tail of the Dragon Convoy 2010
Anyone in FL, GA, AL or those passing thru Atlanta to the Dragon, post here and let's see if we can head to the hills in a group!
I'll be getting in I75 between Macon and Atlanta at Exit 205, then -- who knows which route I'll take from ATL to Fontana... either I-85 up thru Gainesville, GA or GA 400/US19 or I-75 all the way to I-40 ?
EDIT: Going up to Atlanta, then taking US19 / GA400 north from I-85 the back way to Fontana. Looks like the best route.

I am going to go up 95 to 40 - I went home down 75 one time & it took me 2.5 hrs longer. If you pick up 129 north of Atlanta it is a great drive up Fontana. There is a neat look out at the GA/NC border that was very cool. I think some of the twisties there are better than hellbender!!! Lots of cute little towns - don't speed, ours cars stand out a lot in a world filled with 4x4's & dog boxes!!!

Yea, I was thinking of that, Kim! We'd take I75 north out of Atlanta, then get off on I575, until it turns into GA 5, keep on it, then take the job near Blue Ridge, GA over to 60/US129 and come in thru Robbinsville!
Never gone that way before and was waiting for SOMEONE to tell me what the ride was like.
We'll see what others say...

I have pics in my gallery of the GA/NC border. I was one of those awesome moments with my XF. I was coming thru the mountains by myself & got to the border. Beautiful views, local band playing at a beautiful overlook, hikers coming & going - it was great!!!

I think I've made up my mind, I'm going up the way Kim has described, even if I'm alone!
Alternate Fall Dragon Run - Google Maps
I sure hope that link works, it works for ME but I'm unsure if it works for anyone else.
