Default Vespa

I'm thinking of getting a Vespa. I just got back from Italy and rented some scooters. I can't believe how much fun they are. I like the classic look of the Vespas, and I'm looking at the LX 150 or the PX 150. Here are some pics:

Does anyone know if I will need a motorcycle license in NJ to ride one?

Personally, I like the suggestion for the C63 AMG better. Sure costs a lot more, though.

In Arizona, a scooter is considered a "motor driven cycle" and requires a motorcycle license or a special motorcycle endorsement on a regular driving license. The law may be different in NJ. Forum member Sidez lives in Jersey and has a cycle, so he may know what the scoop would be.

Does the same apply if its under 50cc? I hear that in some states you don't need a license for scooters under 50cc, but I can't find any info on it in NJ.

Yes; it's the same. In Arizona, a "motor driven cycle" is defined by statute to mean "a motorcycle, including every motor scooter, with a motor that produces not more than five horsepower," and a Class M license (or endorsement) is required for "operating a motorcycle, motor driven cycle or moped." There is no exception for engines <50cc.

haha yea they can be fun ... but consider the area you will be riding in, they can be a death trap cause of the limited ability to accelerate ... i still ride a bad ace yellow scooter when i visit my friend in PA, two speeds of fury and 40 mph max ... can corner like a mmmm well a bicycle i guess ...
