We just performed an exercise that involved a U2 (sorry, cant' tell ya anymore than that). The airfield here at Fort Huachuca was his emergency landing airfield and there was discussion of a chase vehicle should there be a landing here. Guess who volunteered their SRT for the job! I was asked if the car was up to it. After showing them my 160 mph video there was no doubt!
Bummer (or not), no emergency!

I remember when I was still in the Marine Corps stationed at Prince Sultan Airbase, KSA for Operation Northern Watch. The "Dragon Lady" was there and watching that thing take off is kinda cool. Usually when planes reach rotation speed, they pitch up and fly straight or in an arc. That U2 would pitch up and then look as if it were to pitch all the way over into a loop just above the runway. Frickin' Crazy...
