I never had any problems with the handling provided by Chryslers torsion bar suspension, and neither did the LAPD. (didn't you ever watch ADAM 12 when you were a Kid Doc).
Chrysler's "unibody" was always rock solid (even though all the B-Body's I had were 2 dr. hard tops).
Everyone had an automatic with power steering, except my 69 Super Bee, it didn't have PS, or power breaks, and yeah, it had a Hemi. But even though it was a "stripper", with F-70-14" Radials in front, and L-70-15" "Belted" in back, it steered real nice, and cornered pretty good. (Well, as good as can be expected with "belted" tires anyway. The completely stock exhaust (with resonators) was actually quieter than the stock exhaust on the 440 RT's, and the 383 Road Runners.
Now I'm not saying these NASCAR "sized" vehicles handled as good as your "TransAm Race Series" Z-28, but I never remember any of them being an inconvience to drive. Actually the S-Bee, and the 68 Charger was always alot of fun, and will always be my favorite B-Body's.

Re: cars you want.
I would give my eye-teeth for a lot of the late 60's, early 70's American Muscle but there are only 2 cars that I would give my XF up for.
1969 Yenko Camaro
HowStuffWorks "1969 Yenko Camaro 427: A Profile of a Muscle Car"
1967 Impala 4DR

Other than that my XF is more fun to drive than my 911, 928, Esprit or Alfa ever were.

Kim, why a 4 door, and not a great looking 2 dr. Impala SS fastback?

I guess I'm just terribly prejudice when it comes to 4 dr. cars.
Oh I know there are many "sport sedans" out there that would out perform my Crossfire, I just don't care for their family car persona.
When it comes to cars from the 50's and 60's, if it has to be a 4 dr. make mine a "Station Wagon". (Unless it's a shoebox Chevey) then it has to a NOMAD.

Re: cars you want.
I know you old Dodge/Chrysler guys liked those rattle traps, but those I was around, had a lot of cheap interiors, and broken door handles, creeky doors, and hoods hinges...but, if you had a can of 3-1 oil, you were good to go...and I had only one friend whom I would trust a 160mph run with, in his dual-quad 440 Coronet...whom went thru a host of trannies and motors. His uncle owned a Dodge dealership lucky for him. Now the smaller cars weren't bad, on handling. My old Z would hold it's own in the quarter mile, but it was over after that...for big sleds, they would run top end...even long before spoilers and ground effects...
Re: cars you want
The cars I grew up with (well, I got to see them a lot) in the boonies out West still resonate with me now...
Datsun Z car.
Jaguar XKE.
Citroen SM.
DeTomaso Pantera
Plymouth Roadrunner
...but I'll stick with my current ride, thanks.

Re: cars you want.
A Torino,,,really,,,I guess the author was not familiar with the 1986 1987 Buick Grand Nationals or the 87 GNX. Better 1/4 mile times than the Torino and good gas mieage if you took it easy. Not to mention a great looking car when there was not that much in the eighties to get real excited about that was affordable
