Hey VintageBikesUSA
Re: Hey VintageBikesUSA
No friend, I am mostly a MiNi Bike MaN and have ALL the Honda Z50's and CT70's from 1969 to 1979. I also have the SL Line in al sizes from 70 to 350 and then a few XL's which is what they called the On/OFF road bike starting in 1974. I grew up riding these bikes and my 1st Honda was a first year Z50 in Mexican Yellow when I was 9 years old. I raced motorcross in Central Fla until I was old enough to start buying cars and dating girls . .then the bikes just sat in our shed till I gave them away. Life happened but I have always rode Quads or Dirt Bikes and even a few Harley's along the way but have been messing with these bikes again for the last 15 years and have made a name for my company Vintage Bikes USA.
If anyone is looking for ANY bike I have many sources and will help in anyway I can, I think its a healthy hobby and taught my new wife and kids how to ride. Much better than the Video games . I know a place far far away where the Gent has almost 500 motorcycles of all shapes and sizes and I will be going back to this Wonderland very soon so I will find your bike and bring them home. Be careful for what you wish for .. . LoL I sell my bikes with a Free and Clear Tn title and delivered to your door by a enclosed/insured courier. Pick a color and tell me what options you want and I will custom build your bike in around 6-8 weeks. Here is a pic of a big order before shipping out west. I dont have much room so they dont stay around long.

Re: Hey VintageBikesUSA
I had an XL360 around 1976 or so. Was probably a '74 or 75.
Loved that bike. Bought it used, it lasted maybe a year. Alternator locked up.
This is not the bike, but it WAS this sick green color.
In 1979, I bought an XS360, again, not the bike but it looked just like this 1977 model.
My first ever new vehicle, I was 19. My first ever bank loan (no co-signer, parents would not sign for me so I raised enough of a down payment, I got the bank guy to write the loan on my signature along - made Mom mad and Dad acted kinda proud).
BUt I still want an XS650.

I LOVE the smell of TWO Stroke in the morning . . .Grow up smelling Bell Ray two smoke oil at the track. Rode a yamaha 80 for a few year but on the sandy tracks of Fla the 4 strokes would tractor right on by ya. . .Never rode the street that much , had a 1983 Harley XR1000 I toted around for years moving with my job. Early on I had a Daytona Special 400 (Pearl White) , a Kawi 400 Triple that still had points so it was a ***** to get a 3 banks to run well. I grew up an hour inland of Daytona . My buddy also had a XR1000 and his was Built. He got ran over by a drunk driver that let him lay in the cow pasture all night and bleed out, after that I never did ride on the street much. Dirt dont Hurt . .

Re: Hey VintageBikesUSA
I remember Yamaha's series of two-stroke twin road bikes -all low displacement, started at 125cc and went, I think to 500 or 550cc.
I wanted the 400, but ended up with a 360cc four stroke twin (as posted above).
Ahhh, oil injection pumps, breaker points, chain drive, such memories.

Honestly, these old bikes can be very reliable once they are setup correctly. On the Gt550 i installed an optical electronic ignition and replaced the pistons and rings many years ago. It has over 50k miles on it now! No problems. The yamaha also has been rock solid but i dont ride it as much. Two critical steps are setting ignition timing using a dial indicator and dealing with ethanol fuel. The old carbs hate that stuff, you just cant leave it in for a long time. O ring chains are a blessing also. Much less adjusting once broke in. Im glad people are still interested in these old bikes. I love em!

Japanese bikes come and go and leave no record of their being there at all, your faithful British bike on the other hand always leaves a pool of oil behind as a record of its presence there at some time.
Which reminds me of a dog we had once but that is another story.

I think it came from cleaning the engine with "Cycle Bath" product.
As a youngster ( 12-13 ) I'd visit the Triumph dealer and fell in love with them.
Ended up owning 3 Bonnevilles, 1 TR6 and1 Thunderbird over time.
