Mile Marker-1 (florida's I Mile Standing Start) -
10-14-2009
, 06:50 PM
On Oct 11 they, mile marker-1 held a 1 mile all out run from a standing start on an airport runway in Collier County just off I-75 near the Everglades. Here is what was sent to me by the promoter.
MY email:
Congratulations on your first mile marker 1 run. What kind of times and speeds were reached? Which car was the fastest? Did anybody blow an engine or have any major mechanical problems?
Hopefully, I will be able to attend the January run.
RESPONSE:
Ford GT from power performance and a 91 porsche from Eddie Bello hit 216 on our equipment. We are having equipment from TAG at our next event to record speeds. We had a supra blow an engine and catch on fire.

Subject: mile marker one
They are puting another one together in January. Tenatively scheduled for Jan. 17. It would be interesting to see how the SRT's would do and what kind of top speed they would obtain.

I went to the event last Sunday. It was pretty fun, but was unorganized. There were different workers telling us different things about where we could and could not be. We started the day about 1/2 mile from the track until later on that they let us get about 1/4 mile away. They weren't announcing the speeds for the first three hours or so, and there were some fast runs during that time. Towards the end of the day, things ran a little smoother, but by then about half of the people already left for the day. There were cars for everyones' taste there. The vettes were running around 175mph on average, Mustangs were around 140ish. I saw the Porsche run the 216 an it was just FLYING! The bikes averaged about 192mph. I saw the TT FGT run once and it was definitely haulin, but they didn't read out the speed. They had a police officer with a radar gun tagging people for the speed. One guy with a Z06 had a carbon fiber hood that buckled on him at 180! Many of the cars with wings (ACR Viper etc) were removing them to get a few more MPH. There was a Magnum with a super loud supercharger on it that ran a 180. It was a fun day once everything started to get organized. Hopefully this next one will run a little smoother.

Aaron, we will need to keep this thread alive to see what kind of interest there might be in January.

I'm thinking about attending next time. I know the area, but the only problem is it's a good 4 hours from me.

I am probably looking at at least 1 1/2 hours. Maybe a tad less if I pretend Alligator Alley is one long mile. Actually it is 70 miles across AA and it should be a race to get there. I probably average 85 - 90 in the mini-van. (closer to 90 but who is watching) Soooooooooo, the SRT might make it in an hour and some change.
You do the math 70 miles across plus another 28 to the house. If you want to make it in less than one hour how fast do you need to go. LOL

Am I still the world's fastest SRT6?
I hope to make the March 2010 event to defend my title. I have a few more mods I need to test and see if I can go faster.....
