Any benefits to pulling fuses / 1/4 mile
Any benefits to pulling fuses / 1/4 mile
I was going over my notes from the track and realized that when I trans brake hard the computers seem to get confused and result in a slow 60'. Now I'm wondering if pulling the fuses for traction control and ABS/BAS would allow me to launch harder from a slightly higher RPM. I see that Anthony has managed a great 60' while I'm usually in the 1.8xx range. I've only managed one 1.7xx in my Crossfire. Who's tried, what was the result, do I get my hopes up or not. I'll most likely try for myself no matter what the answer is, like I usually do, but a heads up is always nice.

Me too, 1200 to 1400 so as not to waste a pass. I'll give it a go with the fuses pulled and see what happens. If I can get closer to 1800 or 2000 it may have benefits. I'm sort of thinking it's the TCU that's the hick in the up. (fly in the ointment?)

As I understand it, Traction conrol never really goes off. Even if you shut it off. I think the yaw sensor and some anti slip function will still occur has you spin the rear wheels. Just guessing but logic dictates you might have something here.
Wortha try. I'm anxious to hear the outcome.

1,800-2,000 RPM's, they call that a burnout.
Re: Any benefits to pulling fuses / 1/4 mile
I wonder if it's kicking in ever so slightly. Maybe not enough to feel it but that it's staying ready to engage? Not sure, just thinking out loud. Very interested in what you find out!
Re: Any benefits to pulling fuses / 1/4 mile
It's not kicking in at 1200 to 1400. When I load the converter to the point that the rear tires start chirping the car reacts badly. I can't really say exactly what it does but it seems "confused". I've felt the same confusion on the road course while braking to keep the front tires loaded and being on the gas at the same time. (yes, you can go faster that way in certain situations) When you get to a certain point where the computers don't have a clue what's going on, power gets cut until things make sense again.
Truthfully, I don't think pulling fuses are going to make a difference because I'm thinking it's TCU related. I'm guessing here, so it's time to try it. If the hurricanes leave us alone, the 28th of september is fuse day.

Re: Any benefits to pulling fuses / 1/4 mile
I pull the fuses, but my car is quite a bit different than the rest. I set the line-lock for a 1st and 2nd gear burn out and then launch off the 2-step and foot brake at 2500rpms. If I tried either of those with the the ESP fuses still in, the car gets confused and closes the throttle plate and pulsates the brakes.
