Default So close to the 12's

So last month (03 May 2014/ Density Altitude - 5721) I decided to try out bracket racing, my last pass and fastest of the night was a 13.594 @ 101.56 mph, dialed in at a 13.62 I broke out and took second place.

Directly after I started ordering parts, 65mm Pulley, EC Tune, NW Supercooler, New Plugs, Magnecor Wires, NW Fluid Isolation Kit, Serviced the Trans, New "Factory" Intake manifold gaskets and probably a few other little things I can't remember

This month (07 Jun 2014 / Density Altitude - 6668) my last pass and fastest of the night again was a 13.066 @ 107.73 mph, I let off at the end of the track and the other driver crept past me, I was dialed in at a 13.05 so had I not let off I would have broke out again anyways but I still took 3rd place.

DA was 947 ft more this month than last and I still shaved .528 off my time with just those parts, I feel good about spending the money (Wife does not, all she see's is still 13 seconds). Hopefully in the next few months some drag slicks and a wavetrac are on order cause they are much needed now. I figured I would share the experience and what those parts did for me.

I am located in El Paso, TX, I believe it's the highest elevation in Texas (3917, but DA was 6668 that day) but don't quote me on that. I would like to check the pump here soon, I bought the car used, it has an aftermarket pump (not to say that one isn't bad by now), the car has 78000 miles, I picked it up a couple months ago.

That's what I figure, I still think it's a good number for here, I drove it to Amarillo and back last weekend to visit family, on a long stretch of a lonely New Mexico road I laid into it, about 85-90 I started hearing a rotational vibration, at about 100 the vibration stopped and I started to smell rubber burning so I let off, the car has been squirly on bumpy roads since I bought it, I just thought it was that way from being light. I got home and noticed I had no tread left on the front tires, I took it in for an alignment verification and 2 new tires, the front drivers was 3 degrees toe in, passenger front was 2 degrees toe in, drivers rear was off by a degree, he didn't state which way, so I had the alignment done and tires and it feels like I am driving a completely different car now. I am wondering if the alignment being off was putting a drag on the car and slowing me down, I am going to take it to the track tomorrow night and see how it does, but with the temp going up so is the DA so it will be hard to tell.

Congrats on the run! DA has a lot to do with it. Gaining 6mph is pretty nice too. What were your 60' times?

Thanks, my 60' time was 2.04, I need a wavetrac and/or some slicks to get that down.

Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS, I might try deflating the tires a little, I have read so many mixed reviews, most say it didn't help or it actually hurt their time. I might give it a try though, just to see what happens.

They opened a new track about maybe 5 years ago east of El Paso right off I-10 near Clint, TX. The track on Montana is still there, however it has been shut down for many years, the new track actually bought the grand stands from whoever owns the old track and moved them. There's a lot of history at that old track, kinda sad every time I pass it.
