Wow you did run in some fast company. Glidden and Dyno Don were a couple of my hero's which should give you a hint that like Glidden, I like Fords better. When I was a young punk trying to figure out how to go faster without much Money, another young punk that was trying to make it in Southern California were I grew up and raced was John force. I also worked for the Super Shops back then and raced somewhere every weekend.
With the Crossfire, I had a blast figuring out the mechanical but the electronics are a whole new game and I am slowly learning by trial and error. I feel sorry for anyone who only reads part of this thread and then tries this swap. I have posted many ideas that ended up working but also some that didn't. When this thing runs I may have to start a new thread that contains just the correct facts of what I have learned and how to do it.

Hi Lantana, thx for your pm. The time I spend in the last month with the V8 I enjoyed very much. Every one I meet on the car show and talk about this project or the engine was so amazing about it.
The tube that I used for the airbox have the following part# A1130900282 and A1130900382 and the airbox is from a CL 55 AMG W215, the old one I used before are from an E55 AMG W210. The old airbox stay in touch with the hood and scratch to whole airbox, but with the new one it works fine.
In the case of the fan that I used is the part# A1132000123 and fan clutch A1122000122 , the fan cover part# is A2025054255. Added you need two fan for the air condition too they have the following part# A0015001293 and A0015001393, the cover part# is A2025053355. The biggest problem is to get a signal and power supply from SAM to the air condition fan! In the attachment you will find a picture from fan assembly in my car.
In end of october Im on SEMA in Las Vegas, never before was there, will see what the guys in US build up for.

back to your build Lantana, but I will add this...Norm Paddock lives not too far from Garlits and are good friends from the 'ole days...I plan on looking Norm up on my FL trip come April...they were good days to remember for sure, but did this kid spend a lot of money to go nowhere...live and learn, but build projects are fun, especially when taking your time and getting it right the first time...and you have grt help from Germany which is grt...I have tried, so maybe when you are done and running, I can pick your brain on winter project I have in mind....watching and learning...

Just got back from Germany EARLY Saturday morning(0 dark thirty) and just read all the postings for the week. Great job! This has been one excellent read from the start of the project. Glad that things are going relatively smooth for you. Look forward to hearing that you have it running and then how it performs.... I like the XF500 naming idea. Thank you very much for the part numbers! The first thing I need to change is the air tubes. the ones in my pictures are from the V6 and are too small in diameter. I believe we have the same air box/engine covers, mine still rubbed a little on the hood insulation so I removed the insulation and it fits very well now. I am going to see how my dual electric fans work but they don't look OEM but they can be wired rignt into the fan control module and don't take HP from the engine to run. I may switch to your fan set up in the future for a more original look. I would love to find a MB electric fan that would work but haven't found one yet.
You will have a graat time at SEMA and Las Vegas!!

The ECU arrived at Beckmann Technologies this morning and they have already updated the firmware and it is now on it way back here. We will try again tomorrow to get it to start. According to Bob Beckmann the ECU accepted everything including the imobilization, VIN, transmission, body control unit, dash, key etc. He said the engine could not verify the shifter was in park and that prevents the engine from cranking. The ECU could not communicate with the shifter which they believe was because the 2002 ECU didn't have the firmware that could identify it. We all have our fingers crossed now and hope I will be driving it tomorrow!

This has been an extremely enjoyable read, any of us that have wrenched on a car know how difficult that is without the added burden of writing it all up and taking photos. So I really appreciate the added time and effort you've taken to chronicle this project for the rest of us on CF.org.
I hope we get to see a video of your V8 laying down some serious rubber on YouTube soon!

If it wasn't for those "dang 'puters" this would have been running two years ago! I think it may be easier to hack into NORAD, but I am trying to have fun in the 21st century. If the firmware update doesn't resolve the shifter is in park issue, I will be tracing the wire diagram until I figure out how to hot wire it
I will post sound clips and video when finished but will have to find someone that can video for me. I am too broke now to just go buy a digital video camera. Someone needs to buy the V6 and build the crap out of it.

Most digital cameras do have a video option. So normally there is no need to buy an additional video camera to make a good video that can be viewed over the www.

Not much of an update for today. The ECU arrived with the updated firmware. It was interesting that the ECU had a sticker with a new part number on it that covered up the original part number. the old number was A 113 153 22 79 and the sticker now says "Updated to 113 153 10 91" I ran the new number through EPC net and that ECU is very common to just about everything that came with a V8 so hopfully it will recongnize the shifter. I went to the shop hoping we would try to get the car running but Robert Krause was not in the shop today. I will try again tomorrow.

Worst case scenario, if you can't get the Crossfire shifter to work, we can find one from the donor vehicle, wire in the the PRND+/- sensors from the XF shifter and get you on your way.

Rudy, Thanks for the call last night. My uncle called right after you and we were up late on the phone studying Crossfire wiring diagrams. Per the Star DAS system everything is fine and it should start. Everything is happy and we cannot get it to produce any fault codes. The tranmission control module is displaying the shifter position just fine. We have decided to hook it up to DRBIII and see if we can find something wrong in the anti-theft system. When we turn the key you can hear all the familiar noises under the hood but we will take the engine cover off and verify the TB movement you mentioned. Robert Krause is running around right now trying to borrow a DRBIII tool as he doesn't usually work on Chyrslers or Chizlers as he call them. We will also be rechecking the wiring to see if we cuased any problems when we made a few splices to adapt the V8 harness, but those functions should not prevent the engine from starting. We went through "drive authorizatipon" in DAS and it seemed to work fine with no errors but when it says to start car... nothing. Robert Krause feels we are very close and will find the problem soon. I wish we did have a fualt code as that would at least tell us what is wrong.
