I disbanded the high mileage club when my 116,000 mile car was totaled two weeks ago.
It looks like my NEXT one will have about 33,000 on it.

Once the points have been filed they will not last too long, so be prepared to replace that relay or the RCM.

Ditto, relay contacts that are exposed to high current do not 'file/burnish' too well. Start looking for the relays (if your able to replace them) or sending the RCM to one of the members who 'refurb' them for the members. 180 is right-on!

Will a RCM from a 320 SLK work in a Srt6 Also do you need to disconnect the battery when switching them out?

Yes it will work. It should have the correct number (Part # A 170 545 03 05) but I would check maybe someone made a mistake in the first place so you should try and make sure it is what it is supposed to be.
Actually some other RCM work as well and they have different part numbers.
I would disconnect the battery, maybe not required but better be safe than sorry.

I would disconnect the battery, maybe not required but better be safe than sorry.
I never do, and DJ ( tighed1 ) never does. Neither of us have ever had a problem.
Just sayin.
But, yes, better safe than sorry anyway.

No, lots of problems with not disconnecting battery and working on the electrics by shorting out live circuits, even with the key off.

The RCM contains no sensitive parts, just resistors, a few diodes and relays. Also, the connectors are well covered so "shorting out" anything is not likely.

I yank RCMs all the time with the battery connected. Just about any OTHER electrical work in the car I DO disconnect the battery - just not that.

Ok Little help please.. I have tried 2 rebuilt RCM,s but i cant get that secondary air pump to work.. Things I have tried.
Rebuilt Relay modual From DJ.
12 volts straight to the fan it ran
Pushed over the contacts manually while motor was running.. Nothing
Getting scared now..

There is nothing between the relay contact and the + fan pin but the wire and the connector pins at connector A4 of the relay module. The ground for the fan is on the mounting bolt on NA's, not sure about SRT6's but would assume it is a local body ground point.
Meter the wire from A4 to the fan connector for ohms, should be very close to 0.

ok this seems strange.. I dont have a OHM meter just my fluke Voltage tester on me right now it does continuity...

Anyway the SRT 6 air pump has 2 wires One Kind of a brown color and a larger black wire both on the same plug.. I ran my continuity tester from pin 4 on the plug. and then to the brown side of the fan plug and got nothing. i then put it in the black side and i had good continuity..

One other thing I had thought the brown wire was positive on the fan when i hooked it up to 12 volts yesterday. Could i be mistaken? The black wire is larger..

Are you SURE you want to tackle the relay replacement ?
I can tell you it's not an easy thing to do, I have done 3 and will do no more.
tighed1 will replace it and do all the necessary re-solders for $37, just send him an email at :
