Question Power Steering Pump Differences

Guys,

I need some assistance, my power steering hoses have been seeping and I noticed power steering fluid on the garage floor...long story short, the dealer has my 6 and struggling with parts.

Are there different variants of power steering pumps i.e. hose connecting points?

Thanks,
Nelson

None that I have seen .....the N/A and srt6 are the same for that pump and the hose location is the same. I do not know about the MB part but assume it should be close if not the same.

Old Thread - but - The PDF of the parts manual here for Crossfire shows the return hose part number to be 0509 7966 AA. Ordered one and it came in as a MB hose with a "similar but not exact" configuration, and A 170-997-06-82 on the hose. The original hose, on the SRT, has MB numbers on the hose as A 170 997 10 82 which corresponds to the PDF her on the 98 - 04 SLK parts Catalog. The Crossfire PDF shows a separate listing for right hand drive and left hand drive vehicles, however the return power steering hose numbers are the same. Interesting though that the twist in the hose that Chrysler sent seems to be in the opposite direction than where it should be. I could split the hose and use a an inner sleeve with clamps and make it work, but I would rather have the correct hose. Stealership says they have to call Chrysler on it....hmmm... MB pars can't help without a Vin and I didn't make a link to our community vin to use. Supposedly a WorldPak number is supposed to work. It's number is M 2016 147224-OES . I'm checking it out now.
Follow-up - the a-170-997-06-82 is for an SLK320, not the SLK32. The correct number is the 170-997-10-82. MB parts express dot com has them, I spoke with them and they seem eager to help with no VIN number required.

AWESOME research, can this number ( 170-997-10-82 ) be placed into a listing of 'GOOD' part numbers? GREAT job of researching!

Old thread or not...
Split the hose and add a power steering filter in there.
Problem solved and Xfire's improved.
Aloha!
