Service indicator on ODO screen?
Service indicator on ODO screen?
I have only had this x-fire for 4k and now when you first start it, the ODO screen shows a wrench, a dash and then the number 200. I am guessing this mean that the car thinks it needs service in 200 miles?
How do I know what serive it requires and how do I reset the service indicator? I already searched the site and came up empty.
BTW, the car currently has 32k on it.
Thx

Re: Service indicator on ODO screen?
Use 'FSS' in the search feature and the instructions to reset it should come up.
Or click here.

It can be assumed that the FSS indicator was not set when the oil was changed.

Thanks for the link. The vid at the end of the thread is great. I will reset it before I drive home today, but then it won't remind me at the correct time. Oh well.
Re: Service indicator on ODO screen?
I would never go to the limit anyway, but that's just me.
Re: Service indicator on ODO screen?
My guess is that it got changed early at the dealer and they where probably not familiar with the MB fss reset, and now that car thinks that it is past 7k on the oil change. No biggie.
I know when it will be due for the next change, so I will just keep track of the milage myself and reset it on the next change to get everything on the same page.
Re: Service indicator on ODO screen?
Yeah, early. If they changed it at 3k (early) and did not reset the FSS, then sold it, and I drove it another 4k. That would explain why it is coming on now. 7k from the last reset, even though it really only has 4k on the oil.
Re: Service indicator on ODO screen?
Just a note on the FSS - from what I've read here and what I've seen on my car, the FSS does not simply count off 7K miles. It monitors several sensors on the car and adjusts the mileage between changes accordingly. I think if you hit the button within one second of turning the key to the "On" (not Start) position, you will see the remaining miles the FSS is showing. Depending on how you drive your car, if you check it again in, say, 100 miles, it probably won't have changed 100 miles - it might be more or it might be less. That said, I'm with 180 on this - I wouldn't run my car to the limit of the FSS - change the oil a bit early and all should be well.

Good luck.
Re: Service indicator on ODO screen?
None of the dodge sales guys even knew it had a MB engine in it.
I thought these cars were in the 7 to 10k range for oil changes. I'm not sure why I would want to change it now? I have never changed a high end full synthetic at such a short interval.
