Default Car problems

So I just changed my crankshaft position sensor and that didn't do anything. My car still shuts off while I'm driving and I have no idea what's causing it. It's been doing this for about a month now and it's very annoying.

Welcome.

We are here to help.

Need a bit more info like: random quitting while driving or "mystery no start"? Cold or fully warmed up? Was the replacement CPS a Bosch brand?

Has you looked at the RCM?

Yes, It shuts off while I'm driving. And it doesn't take much driving for it to shut off. I'll be driving then the car will kick and then all the lights on the dash come on and the car engine shuts off. The radio and everything still works just the engine won't start for a while. I replaced my first cps sometime in the last months of last year and then two weeks ago my car randomly shut off while driving. But my car had been having trouble starting prior to this, just not shutting off while driving. Then I changed it out again today and I took if for a drive and the same thing happened. It gave a kick of some sort, all the warning lights on the dash came on and it shut off.

RCM = Relay Control Module. Near the battery, usually an issue with mystery no start.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a bad RCM can also cause the symptoms in this case.

That doesn't look bad, how are the relay contact points?

Looks more like another CPS gone bad. Which I can not explain (no moving parts) - I'm a Mechanical Engineer.

I can see the rings around the posts in the three upper left solder pads, resolder for sure. When you can see discoloration rings it indicates stress.

I had the same symptoms, replaced the CPS to no avail. Pulled the RCM, sent it tighed1 in Sierra Vista for repair and haven't had a problem since.

Can I have some more info on where you sent it and what they did to the RCM?

Go to the "TSB and how to section" look at posts 1047-1049 in the current thread "How to repair the relay control modole" for all the info you need.
