just a interesting idea for the visable tabs left over , i started doing this with my coupe but instead of cutting off the extra taps i plan on using them to mount 5 point harness's (CROW CAM LOCK'S)

Someone did this a couple years ago and posted photo's, but I can't remember who it was. Maybe Andrew will remember. Anyway, I think they removed the exposed brackets, but once again I can't remember how they did it.
I think it looks pretty cool in the coupe, gives the "illusion" of a "part time" or dual purpose track car. Nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned.
And I really don't see how installing roll bars in a coupe (real or cosmetic) comes off making you look like a roadster wannabe.
When most people see a roll bar in a roadster they think, safety precaution. But when they see a pair of bars in a coupe? They're thinking race car.
MIYO, why follow the crowd?

See the first post in this very thread -- it's from late 2005. That photo might be the one you're thinking of....

I'm calling the eye doctor tomorrow. I guess it helps to check out the dates doesn't it.
Thanks Maxxm.

Just finishing mine == used the MB SLK aftermarket bars shown further down this thread, no exposed brackets. Fun to "fish" them into the bulkhead (with the roof on it's different than the roadster !!!).

Biggest pain: figuring where and cutting the holes in the plastic bulkhead cover !!!

Could those of you who have completed this, post some lovely pictures? Would like to see it all done and pretty. I keep thinking that the car needs those to make it look "done" inside and give that giant bulkhead thing behind us a reason for being there.

Did anyone find a how-to pictoral instruction on installing these yet? I know several asked for installation instructions. Honest - I searched and searched but can't find any. Help!

Thumbs up Re: roadster sport bars... on a coupe!

Heres some pic's of mine installed. I have had them in both my Limited and now there in my srt6. I went a different route in mounting them, I slotted the rear bulkhead cover and fabricated up some covers for the slots instead of just cutting holes, So that I could remove the cover in the future if need be instead of pulling the bars to remove the cover

I just finished installing these yesterday. They fit perfectly. No need to cut them - no ugly tabs left showing. Yes, the biggest PITA was cutting the holes perfectly in that top shelf. If I can do this, anyone can - I'm just a stoopid girl! These are nice, quality bars and they shipped them fast.

This was all I could find to help with the install, and did help some. You do NOT have to remove the screws on the back of the wall, however. You do not need to pull that carpet down. Everything is done from the front.

Those look freakin awesome. Wish my car had more chrome since it looks sorta out of place and i just cringe at teh thought of blasting them and then powder coatign them when they look SO shiny!

I know what you mean about the chrome bars looking out of place. I'm planning on getting a few of the chrome trim pieces available for the interior to hopefully tie it all together.

Hey Ringmaster
From looking at the ebay picture, it looks like the bars have a split in them from one end to the other. Are they in fact that way?
Thanks

It must be a reflection off that shiney chrome in the picture. There is no split in the bars.

I hesitated buying these because they are less expensive than others that I have seen and hundreds less than the OEM. I thought for sure they would be some cheap piece of metal, and I thought I was getting reamed on the shipping.

I was pleasantly suprised when they arrived. The bars are heavy and appear well made. You won't be disapointed.

That's exactly what I'm going to do as well. I figure that with all the switch surrounds, lock pegs and surround, seatbelt outlet, instrument panel idiot light trim and reset buttons etc. it will look good.

The SAD thing is that all teh little chrome pieces will cost more than the damn rollbars.
