Only 8 quarts fills mine to full every time.
And I drain out every drop of oil believe me.
I even jack up the drivers side to get out every last drop.

Mine always takes 8.5 qts.

FSS Reset:

1. Turn key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the knob/button twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds turn the key to OFF/
LOCK.
4. Press and hold the knob/button, while turning
the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for
days or distance is displayed once more. Continue
to hold the knob/button.
After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds and
the display shows 7,000 miles (Canada: 11,000 km) for
approximately 10 seconds.

5. Release the knob/button.

Remember, if you forget to buy a new copper washer, you can anneal your old one by heating it to a dull red and letting it cool down. This will soften it back to it's original state.
This a great forum and the cumulative wisdom has been a tremendous help for me (First time XF owner).
