Actually loaned my coupe RCM out too!
Changes of the particular part will show up in the last two pairs of numbers. If the first three digit numbers are different then the part was used first on that car model.
It is a hard system to follow, I have only an inkling of what it means.
RCM's with completely different numbers will work, Turbomar proved that. Would I risk it? maybe not, but I have an identical part as a spare.

As far as I know this is the basic system, sort of.
First three numbers = car model the part was first used on.
Second three numbers = part group number, eg. engine, transmission, body etc.
third two numbers = variation of part.
fourth two numbers = basic part number.

Example of system.
Illumination Control Module.
US version. # 193 545 00 04
Canadian version. #193 545 01 04. (Has day time running lights)

Parts starting with the numbers 193 were made for the Crossfire specifically.

Let me see what happens when I put it back in my car. I'll post here.
Might be time to replace the relay. Might as well practice on mine!

Does anyone know of a good place to get a relay? I looked on the online components website and found the ones we need but my laptop reports the website as being untrustworthy. Has anyone else ordered from them? Did it go O.K.? I know there is a $30 minimum so I could order for myself and others.
Thanks
BA

I had no trouble with Online Components.
Turbomar used this RCM with no problems.

Since I have and 06 I got the latest part number that supersedes the original. Sorry to hear you got shafted on the return RCM DJ. We all end up paying for the actions of a few bad apples. I'll send you my old one if you want it.

This is my original RCM and the box the new one arrived in. The same. I didn't realize this. My comment on the superseded number came from my searching on Google so it must be from years prior to the Crossfire.

Thank you for the thread. I fixed mine today. It never failed, but all three terminals had hairline cracks. While I was there I touched up four other contacts. Only burned myself twice

Could this stuff be used instead of re-soldering?

Did this problem suddenly start?
Have you checked the condition of the cables on the battery and look for any corrosion, loose cable clamps, poor ground connection from the battery.
Headlights work, radio work?

Same thoughts from my end. Electrical connections might be the issue. Could be a starter issue too.

Guys,

I bought a new control module.
Finally the car runs well. So I am willing to give to Crossfire Forum my old one to be refurbished in order for some of you to have a loaner!
I paid $150 for my new one. OEM Mercedes. I use my Xfire, so no way I could have had mine out for a few days. Renting a car would have been the same!

$150 that sounds relatively cheap.

I'm having the same problem on my 2004 xfire, everything thing that's has been mention in this thread has been fixed on my car, and again still the same issue about a week are more later (stalling no starting)wait 30 minutes and have waited up to 9 hrs before it will restart.this stalling happens at high speeds on Highway are when engine slows down and even when ignition is shut off when driving 45 are more
The best thing for all of us to do is report this to the NHTSA 1-800-424-9393 maybe if enough us to report the problem we can get a recall.I don't know about you guys but I'm tired of spending money!!!! And the problem still exist!!!!!!
