Check for codes.
Sounds like fuel problems as stated before.

WELL THIS MORNING I TOOK THE RCM OUT AND UNSOLDERED ALL THE JOINTS I HAD FIXED AND MADE SURE ALL THE OLD SOLDER WAS GONE ,THEN RESOLDERED THE JOINTS. PUT BACK IN THE CAR AND TURNED THE SWITCH AND SHE FIRED RIGHT UP,I LET IT RUN FOR 15 TO 20 MINUTES THINKING EVERYTHING WAS GOOD AND I CUT IT OFF AND CUT IT BACK ON SHE FIRED UP ABOUT THREE TMES AND AFTER THAT NOTHING. HOW DOES THE FUEL PUMP WORK AS FAR AS THE CAR CRANKING, IF IT DOESN'T TURN ON DOES THIS NOT LET THE CAR EVEN TURN OVER? COULD IT BE THE SWITCH AND IS THERE ANYWAY TO CHECK IT OUT?

I wouldn't think this is a fuel pump problem. Did you recheck your solder joints? Seems it heated up, and the problem came back. Were the relays OK? Fuel pump problems usually start with a lot of cranking before it will start. If it idled rough after starting, I would look at the crankshaft position sensor. Good luck..

Does The Fuel Pump Relay Have To Fire Before The Fuel Pump Works.how Does The Fuel Pump Relay Relate To The Cranking Of The Car?

If you are not getting any codes then it could be the camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Run engine till it warms up itshuts off . Let it cool off and see if it runs till warm and shuts off. If this happens could be above sensor. Can you hear fuel pump when you turn key should run for 5 seconds then shut off. When engine stops you should still be able to hear the fuel pump for 5 seconds when key is turned off then on. Mine was the camshaft sensor. Good luck

WELL I HAD TO HAVE MY BABY HAULED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS WHAT THEY DID. THE ENGINE WOULDN'T CRANK AND RADIATOR FAN RUNNING ON HIGH SPEED.THEY CHECKED PCM AND COULDN'T COMMUNICATE WITH PCM. CHECKED POWER TO PCM CONNECTOR 5, PINS 3 AND 9. HAD NO POWER AT PIN 3. CHECKED POWER OUTPUT AT RELAY MODULE FUES 3 AND HAD POWER. CHECKED POWER AT RELAY MODULE CONNECTOR E PIN 6 AND HAD NO POWER. REPLACED RELAY MODULE FOR OPEN CIRCUIT AND TEST DROVE WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS, RCM WAS UNDER WARRANTY. ANYWAY AM READY TO CRUISE AGAIN NOW. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP YOU ALL SHARED EVEN THOUGH THE RESOLDERING DIDN'T HELP MY RCM.

I found this supplyer:

AZ970E-1A-12D AMERICAN ZETTLER | Power Relays (20 Amps to 99.9 Amps) AZ970E 1A 12D | Onlinecomponents.com

$3.46 a pop. There is a minimum $20 charge in the US. Someone can buy 6 and share them among us. I'm going to need one soon. I noticed the odd time the air pump wont kick on

p.s. Great research Super Dave!

So on the rcm,
what do each of the relays do?
Do some get burnt more than others?
Are they interchangeable.....can you take either of the relays from one rcm and put it in another rcm?

I do not have one for sale. What makes you think it is the RCM?
Explain the symptoms and we may be able to help.

Symptoms this afternoon: Wife calls and says no start. I arrive and all power items work, windows, lights on dash etc. - key turns but no crank - no clicking like dead battery or solinoid on starter deploying.

Went back to work and read forums - sounds like possible RCM based on forum. I go back to car after work and take cover off of the RCM and tap the top area of the fuses on the RCM and get wife to turn Key. Car starts right away. Drive car home - park in driveway, try again to start and fires right up again.

Assuming it's the RCM issue so will take it out on the week-end and have a look at the connections with a magnifying glass & most likely take to somewhere local to soldier if it's got the cracked soldier joints.

I will also check to ensure no loose nuts like on splice block 100 as per anothr post I saw.

Thanks,

Steve

Since I am due for an Etest in june and the individual relays for the previously mentioned supplier are backorder, I have decided to buy a used RCM like this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-99-00-MERCEDES-W210-E-CLASS-FUSE-BOX-RELAY-PANEL-MC0303-/230953153931?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c5e1758b&vxp=mtr
The part# is 210 540 00 72

The transplant is successfull and the price is right!

FYI, i had a problem with stalling, i replaced the crankshaft sensor but didnt' fix it. replaced the camshaft sensor and it worked fine after that. also had the mysterious no start problem. resolder the bad connections on the RCM but still no start. Now i find a bad relay. i am working on it now to replace it.
update on the relay. the one that was burned looking (A) turned out to be the coolant fan. FYI the relay at the opposite end is the horn relay. the second relay (B) turns on when starting the car but it will still start without it. Bottom line is I don't believe it is a bad relay. I found 2 more connections that needed soldering on the PCB. I will drive the car for awhile and see if I get the mysterious no start problem again. I will eventually replace the fan relay but I will wait for now.
