i think the reason that relay #5 burns up the contact points is because it draws much more current than the other relays. just look at that huge orange fuse for relay #5. the replacement relay AZ970E-1A-12D contacts are rated for 40 amps so we should be good to go with that part installed. and no more code P0410 !

That part has the same specs as the OEM relay. All the relays in the RCM are the same.

After hours of reading I'm afraid I still need to reach out to the Forum for help on my No Start issue. Last fall I put the key in my ignition after purchasing a brand new battery and could hear the starter engage the flywheel for a split second. Repeated attempts to start resulted in the same. The engine did NOT turn over. I pulled the RCM (as pictured above, thanks 180), cleaned the contacts on the start relay, and popped the assembly back into the box. The car fired right up and was great for about a month of use. Last week the same issue came back. I went ahead and ordered a few new relay units to re-solder into the board thinking the unit had burnt up. All fuses check good. The relays all look great. I re-soldered all relays to be safe. Installed the unit and the problem persists as if I had done nothing. I don't believe it is a CPS issue because the engine will not turn over. Is there anything I may be missing here? Please help

Sounding like your actual starter may need to be replaced.

Is the RCM interchangable between NA and SRT6?

Anybody buy these relays??? Do you have a few you want to sell? Want to keep a few on the shelf, just not 20 of them.

Good news for all P0410 sufferers: This eBay seller has individual relays for sale at $3.99 + $2 shipping:
American Zettler AZ970E-1A-12D Mercedes Benz or Chrysler Crossfire relay | eBay
for our beloved American Zettler AZ970E-1A-12D.
All the other parts houses had big minimum orders - hope this helps someone.

Indeed, sir. I discovered that my 30-watt soldering iron wasn't up to the task of heating up the (relatively) big relay plates; I could melt the solder a bit with just the iron, but adding soldering braid onto the joint transferred too much heat away.

DJ confirmed I was on the right track by upgrading my iron ($17 for an 80-watt, thanks Microcenter!) and getting a $4 solder sucker, I had the old relay off in 10 minutes and the new one on in 1!
Now the CEL stays off, I can hear the hair-dryer secondary air injection roar on startup, and I passed the IL emissions test. thus we were able to get a renewal sticker for the plates and are fully legal once again.
My thanks again to DJ and posters in this forum for the right troubleshooting steps and repair advice.

Hi

I have a failed relay in the RCM. It looks like the coil may have failed. I've unsoldered it and it seems quite dead!

I've searched online and can't locate a source in the UK for this relay.

Does anyone have a spare they would be prepared to ship to me in the UK? I can pay PayPal.

Thanks.

Did you try looking up the equivalent part from Mercedes Benz as they are located in Europe and may be more accessible to you in the UK

Hi. The RCM is a Mercedes part, but that is the smallest unit. Here we are trying to rep ace a single failed relay within the RCM.

This part conforms to an industry standard, in all necessary ways, it has the European pin layout. Their are numerous companies competing in this are so it is not a rare item at all. It may take a bit of digging to find it snd it may have to be purchased in a higher quantity than required.
The extras can be sold easily on this forum, I purchased mine from Pizzaguy some years back.
