How can we test the siren without putting it in the car?

Put 12v on pin 1 and ground on pin 2.
Apply either 12v or ground to pin 3 ( the schematic just says it connects to the Central Locking Pump )

My guess would be that a ground would actuate the siren.

I've never tried to 'if this then that' the normal operation of the alarm module. I do know sending 12v down pin 3 if it is triggered by a ground signal, just might cause an expensive end result. Or am I being a little too cautious? Only reason I ask, this might help understand the 'logic' involved when DC is properly connected and then an input (whatever it is) comes through pin 3 of the module in its 'normal' operating conditions. I believe the battery is in the alarm module to power the siren when that 'abnormal' condition is sensed. This is in the siren's circuitry. Is it a simple switching circuit, I don't know. I also don't know what condition 'activates' the internal batteries to sound the alarm, and for how long if 'power' is cut.
.
I really don't know any of the answers to above questions.
The thing to do would be to meter pin 3 with the alarm connected properly and note the state :
1. 12v
2. ground
3. float
Then trigger the alarm with the 'panic' button and see how pin 3 changes ( cover your ears ).
I really think the batteries are to KEEP the alarm on once it's triggered, IE circuitry sees pin 3 in 'triggered' state, and pin 1 no longer at 12v.

OK, just ignore my pdf then

one word of advise - if you see corrosion on the board from battery leakage, don't go any further, get a replacement siren module.

This is my weekend project. The roadster started sounding off in traffic the other day. If I still had red and blues, I could have been home a lot quicker. Had to pull the fuse to get her home. Anyway, thanks, as I have the batteries and in fact. ordered too many batteries by accident. So we have spares...lol.

My alarm went off the other day and appeared to burn the circuit board.

I ordered part number 5124443AB from Mopar America but they are holding the order and telling me that I should be ordering part number 4692034AB. I cannot find much info on this part number. It is $134 dollars (4692034AB)instead of the $148 (5124443AB) but I do not want to have them send it if it does not have the same chirping characteristics (3 lock, 2 problem, 1 unlock).

Anyone know what this part number is?

By the way, 4692034AB chirps 3 for lock, 1 for unlock.

Great because they already mailed it to me already before I could cancel it and they implied it would not chirp.

Hopefully it works and chirps. Looking for the lights to flash is a little tough during the day.

Why the 3-pin batts when they make the 4-pin type? Much easier to de-solder and suction off and do a proper replacement!

These Exell (p/n EBC-3/V150H-4P) batteries are rated @ 150mAh compared to the 140mAh Vartas which will provide a slightly longer charge. All other specs are the same.

And here’s the Varta equivalent 4-pin 150mAh…

Good find ! Back when I wrote the DIY, the only 4 pin batteries I could find were in England and the shipping charge was excessive.

When replacing the siren why not relocate it outside it's current location for simpler future service?
