Tyre sealant?

Another of my annoying "I'm steadily fixing up my xf" threads sorry folks you all must be bored as badgers with me banging on just enquiring about the tyre sealant that normally comes with the xf, mine didn't so just wondering what do I need....will a standard replacement do?

Hi, i wouldn't bother with any type of tyre sealent as the tyre cannot be repaired if used.Just keep the compressor and buy some tyre plugs of ebay.These are like a sticky rubber worm which gets pushed into the hole in the tyre with the supplied tools in kit.This will then get you by until you can get to a tyre fitter for repair....

So the standard tyre seal that comes with it is not the best way to go about sorting a puncture out then?....never heard of these tyre plugs before, easy to use?

All tyre sealents have a use by date and like i said, the tyre has to be thrown afterwards.Do a search on ebay and you tube and you will see they are very easy to use.

How are you supposed to know where the puncture is? Memories of putting a bicycle inner-tube in a bucket a water to find the bubbles would be a little more difficult with a 19" wheel at the side of the road...

Similar way of finding out actually buddy, bottle of water with washing up liquid in...poor over tyre, where it starts bubbling is where your puncture is
Granted you have to have a bottle of water & washing up liquid with you but this is easily achieved.
I always have a bottle of water in the car & you can get those little tubes of washing up liquid from pound shops etc....

Or you could by my OEM sealant, Guaranteed to probably not work!

All my punctures have been caused by a nail,screw or stone getting stuck in the tyre.I think it is very unusual to have a puncture with nothing stuck in it unless the valve or tyre bead is leaking.

Yes,There were some on ebay which came in a little carry case which can easily be stored under the boot floor.

I grew up out in the sticks. Punctures from thorns and shards of cut hedges are the most common there. Well, that and potholes...
