Default Windscreen

Hello to all..
Driving between Wallingford and Reading this morning when a HGV kindly blasted my Crossfire windscreen with stones leaving me with two nice stone chips in centre of my windscreen.and two nice stone chips at top end of my bonnet.. Amazed, given the noise it made screen didn't shatter.. Based on the size and location of these stone chips may consider it for repair sooner rather than later, via autoglass or the like?
Got me thinking though.. Had the screen smashed.. Would replacement screen be easily available? or would us uk crossfire owners be looking at a problem with replacement?

Anyone had to have replacement windscreen?

That A4074 between Reading and Oxford claimed my ALFA 147 screen couple of years back,

All xfires have same screen - those that have new ones fitted have had them done quickly by the main stream companies

Do the mainstream windscreen companies have our screens to hand or do they have to go through breakers to?....I'm just curious to know, say I drive to work tomorrow and my screen cracks all the way across will i be able to get it replaced straight away via the insurance (my bank account covers me for windscreen damage/replacement)
