Default Rims and Tire?

I have read that many people have gone to all 4 17" or 18" rims on the Crossfire without causing issue with the computer monitored systems. I am considering getting 18" rims and using my SRT rims for autocross tires. If I get 4 matching size rims and tires, will this cause the ABS or traction control system to loose its mind. Has anyone done this with success? Thanks.

The main thing to remember here is that you do not alter the overall tire/wheel diameter. In other words if the stock wheels and tires are a total of 25 inches tall... then ANY wheel and tire combination you pick should come out to 25 inches tall too. This will keep your speedometer accurate as well as the ABS/ESP systems working well.

I would not go smaller than 18" wheels if you have an SRT6 as anything smaller may hit the calipers. I'm not sure how small you can go on the base and limited models.

Are the stock 18" front and 19" rear rim and tire sets equally overall 25 inches tall?

I did some calculations today and this is what I came up with ... (I'm looking for new shoes for the baby).

Code:
Stock Tire and Rim Sizes
width 8.858267717 in. wide 25.08661417 inches
Front 225 mm wide tire with a profile of 40 and a rim diameter of 18 = a tire height of 637.20	mm
Rear 255 mm wide tire with a profile of 35 and a rim diameter of 19 = a tire height of 661.10	mm
width 10.03937008 in. wide 26.02755906 inches
With all that (sorry... I pasted that from a spreadsheet which I can't attach here).

You can do the calculations yourself. Tire Rack has a nice page with the formulas on it here.

Width x Aspect Ratio = Section Height
Section Height x 2 = Combined Section Height
Combined Section Height + Wheel Diameter = Tire Diameter

Here is the formula I used...

(Width x Aspect Ratio) / 50 + Wheel Diameter = Tire Diameter

Remember that I'm using the aspect ratio as a number not a percentage, it just makes the math easier (shortcut). If you do it the way it states on Tire Rack's formulas it will come out the same. i.e. - "(225 x 40%) x 2" In this case 40% is the same as 0.40. I use "(225 x 40)/50" which has the same result and removes the need to convert the Aspect Ratio to a true percentage.

Remember also the width of your rims will determine the maximum tire width you can use (along with chassis limitations). Currently I have TSW Nogaro wheels of 18x8.0 with 32mm Offset and 19x9.5 with 35mm Offset which is slightly larger than stock (18x7.5 with 35mm Offset and 19x9 with 22mm Offset) with stock tire sizes. I plan on putting wider tires than the stock sizes I have now as these are 'pulling in' as they taper to the tread area some.

Here's what I came up with... not sure about the front tires rubbing or not... I seem to remember the widest tire size we can fit in the front is 245 without some odd offset. I'll have to use my Wheel Right - Wheel and Tire simulator tool to see if I'm going to be just close or seriously rubbing before I commit to going to a shop and having these mounted up for a test fit.

Code:
Stock Tire and Rim Sizes
width 10.03937008 in. wide 25.02755906 inches
Front 255 mm wide tire with a profile of 35 and a rim diameter of 18 = a tire height of 635.70	mm
Rear 295 mm wide tire with a profile of 30 and a rim diameter of 19 = a tire height of 659.60	mm
width 11.61417323 in. wide 25.96850394 inches
As you can see the overall tire height is VERY close to stock.

Hope that helps!
