This happened on my stock SRT6 and it was and still is almost completely bone stock. Only brakes were upgraded.

I suspect it is extreme wheel travel during corning that causes this.

Cheers!

it is a friendly rub spot when backing with the wheels turned in full lock... (even in stock form).

I'm not really sure what "don't" this...but I have a good idea what did that...more than likely wider aftermarket tires/wheels!

Tires are the same and the offset in the front is stock, so the tire contact area is in the same spot... nice try apkano... besides, I'm pretty sure juan vega still has the stock rims and tires.

Andrew,

What is a 'friendly' backing up rub area? With the wheels at full lock... why would that only happen while backing up? While stopping from moving in reverse?

I personally think it's because my suspension has been to all extremes... can you say 'Track Time'?

I have stock tires and have a spot where they have rubbed.

I just went and checked mine...no spot from tire rubbing. Strange? Then again I can pop the fuses for the ESP programming and still blow past 5,000 RPM too!

It seems we have happened upon another one of those "strange things about the Crossfire"!

I can understand it on Andrew's lowered car and MMZ Timelords track car. Juan maybe onto something with the previous owner...

since i got track fever i been driving my car a little harder than normal but the previous owner could have done it... so what i'm gonna do to verify is, i'm gonna put some tape and i'm gonna drive for a bit... i'm gonna try to make it rub lets see how that works.

juan vega,

Sounds like a plan. I'd be curious how long it takes to get rid of the tape.

I may do the same thing and see if it is daily driving or track time that takes it off. Good idea!

Cheers!

Agree, mine looks exactly the same, but I didn't think it happened till I lowered it.

My SRT-6 is 100% stock and it does rub slightly when the wheels are locked one way or the other. I can hear it and feel in the floor board of the car when it does it. The first time it did it, I thought I had a flat tire and got out to check and nothing looked wrong. Then I remembered we have Tire Monitors. So the next time it did it, I looked a little further. The left wheel is worse than the right one, but that's do to it needing an alignment I would guess. I have noticeable rub spots, but it isn't down to metal.

here is a picture of the 'friendly' rub on my lowered crossfire. it doesn't do any harm to the tire what so ever.

i have since taken the suspension off (2 weeks ago)... i used 3M undercoating and sprayed the entire metal wheel well area.
