Default Patching a slow leak

I have a slow leak in my right rear tire (contis). I took it to Firestone today and the guy told me he would patch it but it would negate its speed rating. He added that it would still be safe up to 80-90 mph. Thoughts?

Default Re: Patching a slow leak

dependa on the patch and size of the hole and it's location... I had a tire patched after it was punctured by a nail and was still stable at 120 mph... but don't take me up on this...

but yea a puncture will negate you speed rating as the tire now has a greater chance of... malfunctioning...
