My gf just bought an '05 SRT-6 with barely 5,600 miles, and the first thing I noticed is that it seems that either the brakes or maybe the suspension seem to make a very loud creaking/moaning sound. It's not the high pitched sound of worn brake pads, and it happens when the car is at rest and it moves either forward/reverse. Have any of you experienced this?

 

Yea, I've got this noise in mine. The dealer said it is the pads moving around in the calipers. I think they are at least partially correct because mine doesn't make the noise until I apply the brakes at low speeds (such as pulling into a parking spot). Some guys have said that switching over to the rotex brake pads alleviates this.

 

Thanks for the info! I messed with the car a bit yesterday and found that i can modulate the noise with the brakes, which makes me think it's only the brakes at nothing else like the suspension or chassis. The car only has 5,700 miles so i doubt any bushing or suspension components are worn enough to cause this kind of noise (with the exception of some kind of defect).
