Exclamation 60-0 braking times

Hey I'm looking for the 60-0mph braking specs on our crossfires, (Limited and SRT6 models.) maybe someone out the has some back issues from "snob & Driver magazine" or other car review rags that actually tested this on our cars?

much help is appreciated!

just for comparision, I found the clk430 60-0 in 121 feet, that's two feet further than the 2004 911 GT3, wow.

Maxwell, check out my old comparison thread, it has statistics from the magazines, old and new.

is this correct Braking 60-0 m.p.h._______AMX___115'________Crossfire__________ 114'________

this must be the SRT6 braking specs and not the Limited right?

Snob and Driver have the SRT6 at 70-0 mph @ impending lockup: 157 ft Can another 10mph actually have this big of an effect on stopping?

Yep, that extra 10mph really adds to the stopping distance.
Road & Track actually got a better stopping distance out of an 04 coupe over an SRT6 Roadster. But I'd be willing to bet it was because the SRT had all seasons.

When braking you're taking the kinetic (moving) energy of the car and converting it to heat. Kinetic energy is proportional to the velocity squared of the vehicle. So going from 60 mph to 70 mph is increasing your kinetic energy by over 36%. 157' (70-0) is 38% greater than 114' (60-0).

so basically there is no real reason to upgrade the stock Crossfire brakes, since it stops as good as a Porche 911 GT3, so the only reason for the extra swep area on the AMG and SRT6 is to allow the brake rotor to disipate heat, so there is no benifit for the street or fast highway speeds. good to know.
I thought going larger would give me shorter stopping distance, I guess not?

srt6 70-0 mph @ impending lockup: 157 ft

Limited crossfire 70–0 mph @ impending lockup: 161 ft

I'm just gonna assume the distance variation is due to the drivers foot not applying the same pressure at the same instance the measurement was calculated could be using different tires also.

yep, stock brakes are more than adequate for everyday street use. The only reason to go bigger would be if you're tracking the car...then heat dissipation becomes an important in fighting fade.

Your tires are much more a limiting factor than the brakes themselves. The difference in braking distance between a top performance summer tire and a crappy all-season tire is likely more than the difference between stock brakes and bigger brakes.

Another reason to avoid big brakes when possible is the added rotational inertia they inject to the equation.

Just like larger rims & tires, larger brakes add to the energy that must be must be dealt with during both acceleration and braking.
