Good/Bad Price?
Good/Bad Price?
Is this a good/bad/ok price?
NTB (National Tire & Battery)
2 Front: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/40ZR-18 88Y DIR $232. ea
2 Rear: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 255/35ZR-19 92Y DIR $289. ea
Total installed, after shop/disposal fees & after taxes is $1,260.
My regular mechanic/service center wants $1,592.
Firestone wants $1,426.
The Chrysler dealer I'm not even going to bother with.

Re: Good/Bad Price?
Thanks Ben.
Good to know my price shopping is paying off here locally.
I'd read the thread you linked to, but I'm shopping for all seasons.
I think I'm going to try to to get the Eagle F1 All Seasons as they rate a little higher than the Mich PS A/S and are a bit cheaper. But, I'm having problems finding the rear 19s.
Looks like I'll end up going through Goodyear or NTB for the F1s. If I go with the Mich, then I'll be going through NTB for said price.

Re: Good/Bad Price?
Tire Rack.com - just bought them there - just had them installed this weekend - seem fine. They clearly won't handle as well as the PS2 - but its really unfair to compare a Summer Max Performance tire to an all season. They have both sized and will ship them - I got mine in 2 days.

I am assuming you talking about the Eagle F1 All Seasons.
I have the printout in front of me of the price for them.
18s $148 each
19s $220 each.
If I don't go with these Eagel F1 All Seasons, then I'll go with the Mich PS A/S.
Re: Good/Bad Price?
I put some pics and thoughts at https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=19542.
I haven't got a lot of time on them but they seem very good. They are quieter and "better" riding than the stock PS2s but they clearly don't provide as much road feedback nor will they handle as well when pushed really hard...but that is expected as one is a max performance summer tire and the other is an all season tire. The tread pattern is very good looking too. The Goodyears also have a pretty good "rim protector" bevel too - good characteristic.
I considered the Pilot A/S as well, but just couldn't justify the pretty sizeable price increase (did consider the Yokohoma Advans - but again more money and didn't see the reason to spend it). The local Goodyear dealer was outrageous in their price compared to Tire Rack - I had them installed locally for $20/tire.
There is also a recent Tire Rack test of "ultimate performance all season tires" and the F1s were either first or a real close second to a tire that did not come in our size. All around - I would recommend them at this early stage...hope this helps.

Re: Good/Bad Price?
I don't know the answer but the fronts were $20 more per tire and the rears were $50 more per tire at the Goodyear dealer. Those numbers are comparable prices in that I added to the Tire Rack price, shipping, and installation as the Goodyear dealer price included that (well not shipping but there was none) Ironically, the dealer is in my little suburb here in Dayton, OH and I wanted to give him the business...told him I was looking at Tire Rack and asked him to match their price + shipping + install...he said he couldn't do it. Go figure.

255/40zr18
GoodYear: $169.95 ea
TireRack: $148. ea
225/35zr19
GoodYear: $259.95 (Normally $315... right!)
TireRack: $220.
I also prefer to give my local mechanic my business, but he too can't match or come close to price.
I'll end up bringing him the tires to mount/balance for $14 each tire.
What are your thougths on Roadhazard through Tire Rack?
Re: Good/Bad Price?
I didn't opt for the Road Hazard...I never have on any tires. I'm not really sure why or why not - I just look at it like extended warranty on stuff and typically stay away from them. I probably don't drive by Xfire 5,000 miles a year either - so I never really considered it.

If it can be repaired, they will pay upto $25 for a patch. The service center/tech has to decide if the tire is repairable.
I've picked up 3 nails and a screw in the last year with my OEM tires.
So I'm thinking the road hazard is a good idea.

They price matched with Tire Rack, though their Road hazard is a little more than Tire Rack.
About a $20 difference for all 4 tires when added up...
All 4 tires, installed, balanced, road hazard and taxed comes too... (drum roll)
$926. Out The Door.
Then I have an additional $50 mail in rebate from Goodyear.
So, just rounding things up, $880. when its all said and done.
Lastly the Chrysler dealer said that unless I feel a pull, I will not need an alignment.
If I opt for one, it will be $59 + tax through the dealer.
