Effect that Front Size Tires on Rear axle has on Cruise Control?
Effect that Front Size Tires on Rear axle has on Cruise Control?
Found under "really strange department."
After mounting my 225/40 18" blizzaks all around to get the Crossfire ready for winter, I've noticed a bizarre change in the behavior of my Electronic Speed Control.
The Cruise will only hold speeds up to around 42 miles per hour. Trying to set it hold, or accelerate into a higher speed causes it to stop maintaining speed altogether.
I searched through the owner's manual and the service manual to no avail.
I wonder if one of the electronic nannies doesn't like the apparent slip that it probably thinks it sees from the smaller diameter rear set up (as recommended in the owner's manual) as opposed to the normal size summer rears?

Re: Effect that Front Size Tires on Rear axle has on Cruise Control?
It would certainly make sense that something in the traction/stability control system wouldn't like the signals it is getting with the "wrong" size tire in the rear...do you get the stability/traction control light flashing at all when the cruise refuses to work? Have you tried cruise with the stability/traction control "off" (well as off as it gets)?

Yes, I did try it with the traction control "off" and the cruise still won't engage for speeds over 40 or so.
