as an update. i looked under the car and i tightened the bolt on the steering colum that couples to the steering box and it solved the problem. no need for new tie rod ends....thanks to the dealer mis-diagnosing the problem

I did that, and replaced the Steering Stabilizer and it's like a new car.

I don't know if you have seen my post regarding the steering box but I have just got my car back from service and there is a noise coming from the steering and the mechanic thinks it's the steering box.
It is a clicking noise.
So my question is what nut needs to be tightened to cure this?

Thanks.

Norrie.

just above the steering box there is a knuckle that is clamped on to the steering box the knuckle is at the end of the steering column. it basically has a pinch bolt and it is a tight area to get to but it can be done. put a wrench on one end and a socket on the other and give it a turn this might take care of your proplem. there are a few other post with pictures on here search "steering"

I will see if this fixes the problem.
I don't want to have to replace the steering box as they are mega bucks.

Norrie.
