Default General Exclaim UHP ?

When I was out looking to purchase a used Crossfire, I came across alot of used ones w/either the originals or w/ Cooper Zeon tires. And one with the General Exclaim UHP tires that looked good. I was suprised how cheap I found them on TireRack.com

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=(Y)&minLoad=S

I don't race my car, it will probably never exceed 80mph, and in bad weather it will remain in the garage. I read some of the reviews and didn't see anything extremely negative.

Anyone have expierence here with these tires? They are within budget for sure. All four for $574 dielivered to my house. I have access to a changer and balancer. And you get a $50 rebate debit card with the purchase.

TIA, James

I have these tires, great looking tire, ride is kinda rough, I dont mind it but I feel like there is more of a slight vibration through out the car with these tires then there was before.

I have just bought a set of these in stock sizes but don't have them mounted yet. They are replacing F1s that cupped and scalloped after 26K. The Mini forum loves these tires and I assumed they would go at least 26K as they do for them. They are very economical and I am hoping will perform as well as the $900 F1s.

I am on my second set of exclaims. First set were 265/30-19's and stock up front. This set are 275/30-19's and stock up front.
When I buy my next set, oh about 30K or so from now, they will be 275/35's unless I change wheels, then I'll get up into the 285 or 295 category. They have worked extremely well for me, no vibrations, no issues at all. They ride nicer than the conti's that she came with too. Great great great in the rain, and did alright in the snow, during two colorado winters. Have pulled over 1G lateral on these as well, no issues. For the price, can not complain at all. And its a great looking tire.

I just put a set on last Friday. Very nice looking on the rims. They are the stock size. The rear set (255/35/19) leaves the rim lip very much exposed, the tire wall slopes inward towards the tread. The front set looks perfect, the tire wall sits up straight. I took my baby back to Discount Tire and thank god they have a great return policy. They order a new set for the rear at 275/30/19. This will provide a little more tire wall extension towrads the rim lip offering a little more protection. There will be a slight decrease in overall diameter though. They did not offer a 275/35/19 size or I would have opted for that. We will see how they look when they come in.

I ran out to the CF and snapped a few so you can get a look at how the UHP's look mounted. Also how the stock size on the rear looks a little small on the rim.

Not sure how to post pics. any help??????

Not sure how to help with the picutres problem. Just make sure that the tire guys dont chinger up your rims or break your tpms mounting the 275/30's It took my local tire guy almost 2 hours to mount all four tires. The back tires taking all the time of course.

Fired UP, I would like to see pics of the 275/30/19 when you get them installed. Did they say how long it would take to get them? It looks like you will loose about a half inch diameter. 35/40 series would be better but I can't find a listing either.

Thanks, James

Not quite what you wanted James, but here are pics of UHPs mounted on Mandrus Millenium wheels. I got everything one stop at Discount Tire. Very Satisified.
FRONT: TIRES GEN EXCL UHP..225/40R-18XL 91W BSW 380 A AA $120 EA
REAR: TIRES GEN EXCL UHP.. 265/30R-19XL 93W BSW 380 A AA $145 EA
I ALSO PURCHASED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT CERTIFICATES $18.50/22.50, LIFETIME SPIN BALANCE..$12.50, COMPUTER RIDE MATCH WHEEL TO TIRE..$17.99 EA, TPMS REBUILD KIT..$5.00 EA
WHEELS..FRONT MANDRUS MILLENIUM 18X8.5 $225.00 EA.
REAR...MANDRUS MILLENIUM 19X9.5 $285.00 EA.
INSTALLATION KIT..GORILLA.$7.00

I have approx 3,000 miles on and no exhibitable tire wear. Ride is a little harsher due to 380 tread wear rating, handling excellent, not driven in hard rain. Tire was number 1 rated at TIRE RACK for 3 years among 40 tires.
There is less than 2% difference in speedo reading at 70MPH, actual 68.7.
I did not use spacers and no offset prob. I chose to use DISCOUNT TIRE BECAUSE IT IS LESS THEN 2 MILES FROM HOUSE, MANY, MANY, MANY STORES WHERE I MAY BE DRIVING, I HAVE DEALT WITH THEM FOR DECADES WITH NO PROBLEMS. Hope this helps

Good Luck,
John P

Forgot to mention FWIW, my Generals were manufactured in Czech Republic. Any one else "Czech" theirs? Also Contis I took off were made in Germany.

Thanks John, Your wheels look good, almost like an SRT look. I am not thrilled about the country of origin if they are all made there.

i've been running TOYO proxies on everything i own. have been for at least 10 yrs. yea they cost more but they last a LONG time, they stick rain or shine, and look aggressive as hell. even run them on the shop van! i have 225/40/18 on the front and 275/35/19 on the rear wrapped around some dirty dogs by DUB. the spokes look just like the side strakes oh sorry don't know much about exclaims. guess i was just rambling the exclaim does LOOK pretty good though.

I'm replacing the stock Conti 2s on my '04 Coupe with the General Exclaim UHPs, and sticking with the stock sizes front and rear, due largely to the the posts on this thread. BTW I got 25k out of the Contis, and had no real complaints other than tire noise.

Oh yeah. I STILL NEED A MINT FRONT WHEEL!!!!!!!

After 1000 miles with the Exclaims I am completely happy with them. They are quieter and smoother than the F1's that I removed. If I get 26K out of them I will definitely buy another set.

got these put on as soon as i got the car. They look great and ride pretty well. The back tread is so deep that even my friends are amazed and they ride real well in the rain. Best bang for the buck but also you got to think that the stock tires were conti's and general is part of conti so there you have it!
