Which is the better tire? The Michelin Pilot All Season or the stock Continentals?

Best in what aspect? (Grip, mileage, noise etc. etc.)
What type of driving do you do?
In your position I would start with reviews/ratings on any tire site... Tire Rack, Merchants, Discount etc. etc.

Best at NOT being a pile of expensive crap rubber with paper sidewalls and zero wet grip? Michelin.
The only tire I've ever hate MORE than the stock Contis were a set of factory Goodyear Eagle RSAs on my Neon R/T. And that's only because they lasted longer than the Contis.

The Michelins are a better and more expensive tire.
Funny that Chrysler charges to upgrade you to the crappy Conti's.
They were so bad I bought new rubber within a week.

Ya,

The best overall tire. My car only has 13k miles and the tires are getting there. So, I guess I'm looking for the best bang for my buck...

Yokohama ADVAN S4 are in the same league (ultra high performance all season).

Why does everyone think the Continentals are so bad?

I'm looking for a tire that I won't hear so much road noise especially coming from the front

Ya I wonder to.
I think with the number of members here every tire ever mentioned has been said to be good or bad for individual reasons,
There will never be a tire that everybody will support.
I am currently switching from Michelin PS2's to Conti all seasons for a few different reasons
although the PS2's have been excellent for 33000 miles.

I have them on mine and think they're fine. It sticks around corners exceptionally well and haven't slid any in the rain whatsoever.

Love my stock Michelin PS2's. Since I'm living in Florida, I'll never ever buy all season tires again, only summer performance tires like the PS2's. Also had a set of PS2's on my GTI and couldn't have been any better!

But how could you possibly think... with the paper thin sidwalls, the horrible steering response and stability...

They hydroplane like a saucer. Even a middle-aged accountant in a Ford Focus SVT shared my feelings about the horrible wet traction.

Sir? Do you routinly transport your pet goldfish?

I'm currently using Michelins on my ride. And as a daiy driver, I must say that the car really performs well with those tires.

Something i've been kind of curious about. . .

Drove my mom's 2005 Cadillac STS with Michelins the other night because I needed the extra seats. It was raining and as I came around a fairly sharp curve at a reasonable speed, the car downshifted on me causing the back end to break loose and swing around on me. I luckily was able to correct it quickly and there wasn't a problem.

The thing that surprises me, however, is how my lighter-weight more powerful sports car with Continentals outhandles my mom's heavy family car in the rain. What's the explanation behind this?

My vote goes to the Michelin, specifically the A/S Plus model.
Noticeably quieter than the GoodYear F1 A/S they replaced, great grip.
I just changed my wife's car tires to the same as a result.
There is a $70 Michelin discount for 4 tires going on now, I believe. Expensive but great tires.

Not to complicate this thread, but the quietest tires you'll probably find are the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports.

They have a more rounded tread-to-pavement profile - - - hence, avoid the pavement slap inherent to square-treaded tires like the OEM Conti's. A moderate priced, soft-rubber ultra-high performance summer tire. I run them and they help the Crossfire feel like a much larger, heavier car. - Nice.
