Re: Repairing Curb Rash
I work at a chrysler dealer. We have a mobile guy that will come and do it. My dads 06 S500 AMG rims had a good bit of rash on them. So i took them in to be fixed. They look good as new. Also, as for 500 dollers a rim, I had three rims done and it was 275 for the whole job. Big chain enterprises like Wheel Docter are most likely a little more pricey.
Re: Repairing Curb Rash
The Wheel Doctor here in Cincinnati got me for $85 but it looks absolutely perfect. I had them flip the tire on the rim and they electronically balanced the wheel. He explained the way they repair wheels could not be done mobile. It involves TIG welding to 'fill in' the curb rash.

Re: Repairing Curb Rash
we have a shop not far from me...I will get their info and post on here later...they may allow you to ship to them...just haven't ask them...they have a process that heats up the whole wheel making the repair, then cooling restoring whether painted or clear coated...I had my Harley Fat Boy wheels done by them...

[quote=rickms]Man, I've been so careful but it has happened. I've scraped my rear right wheel against a curb. What are my options for repairing this. I'm not a do it your slefer. Are there commercial services that do this type of repair
Rick, some of those "wheel fixers" can't do much for you if you need welding, truing, Etc. I really screwed mine up within about three days of ownership. Go to truwheel.com. These people are great! It cost me 125 dollars and you can't even tell where the damage was. They are in Southern CA so shipping might cost you a few more bucks. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! Re: Repairing Curb Rash
Columbus , Ohio Wheel Medic will charge $140 and includes re-mounting tire. My four inch rash is gone and wheel looks as good as new. The small outside rim however is gone forever as they machined it down. No one will know but even fact I know is bothersome. I don't think it will happen again at least by a curb.
Re: Repairing Curb Rash
The Wheel Dr. TIG welds to add alloy to the missing area where the curb rash is. Then forms the rim/lip back to its original shape.
He warned me against companies that simply sand/machine away the rest of the wheel to hide or blend in the rash. Sounds like I got a deal for $85.
