Default HANKOOK VENTUS V12 Being discontinued??

I've been searching for a pair of 19" rears and have been told by several suppliers that these tires are being discontinued. Anyone else hearing this. I was able to get the only pair of 275-35-19 in Ontario but it wasn't easy. Time for you guys that like these tires to stock up?

Very over rated tires. After running through a set my opinion is that they are not worth it. The lack of grip is not made up in either price or grip.

The EVO K110s are being replaced by the Evo2. Same tread pattern, new name...still hasn't been determined if treadwear will be the same though.

I know we used to carry the V12's (PepBoys), but they have clearanced them all out so I am assuming they are in the discon list. Also they are taking away our falken 452's, which are curerntly priced around the 139 dollar mark if one of your local stores still have them, should still have a few in UT, AZ, CA and TN. Ive gone with the G-Max which replaced the exclaim UHPs and have been happy, they cut through water, and give me a very predictable tire on the race track and have done me well on the 1/4 mile as well. Just a biased opinion here.

Not sure exactly what you were trying to say here but you obviously didn't like them. That is contrary to the experience many here have had with the Hankook. While I wouldn't rate them as a track tire, I thought that their grip for spirited road work was pretty good and their price is on the lower side of average for our cars. I would be willing to replace them with another set of Hankooks, be it the same tire or a newer replacement.

I run them on the back, and run a pair of eagle GTs still up front since my rear wore down faster last time. So far no complaints from the Ventus v12's, and they have plenty of traction in my use. Granted I don't track the car since it's my daily now hahah

Should have read:

Very over rated tires. After running through a set my opinion is that they are not worth it. The lack of grip is not made up in either price or tread life.

What tires are you comparing the Hankooks to?

I was happy with the tire and the compromises it makes for the first couple thousand miles or so. However as the tires wore the compromise in grip just got worse.

I am going back to good quality tires. Next set is the Pilot Super Sports.

I like the pilot super sports I have now - 285/35 18's rear and 245/35 up front. I was able to lay down a 12.11 at the track - grip really well. They do need to warm up a little before they will dig in - my experience at least with the SRT6.

Default Hankook V12's on close out.

Cut a rear tire Tuesday and in checking prices I found the Hankook V12's close out priced at tirerack. I was going to replace the front's and the end of the season but decided to do all four, 275/35x19 rears $169 ea and 225/40x18 fronts $99 ea. plus $56 shipping, total for $592 to my door. Had my local shop install them for $60.

I'm on my second set of these and I got 30,000 out of the first set
Jump on these tires for this close out price for sure

I recommend going with the 285/35/19 on the rear for a little more width and height and a better looking stance on the cars

285/35/19 on the rears........

Curious. I see in the specs for these tires that there is a difference of about 25 revolutions per mile on the 285 versus the stock size 255. Have you noticed any negative results from using an oversize tire on these cars?

More importantly, I also noticed that the specs for this tire call for a 10" rim, which, of course, is 1" more than our wheels. Have you noticed any ill effects from doing this?

Thank you.

I'm on my FOURTH set of them, and yes, the bigger tire means about a 350 rpm drop at 80 mph.

Im going to see if I can scrape up a set at the discounted price - don't need tires right now, but I will in six months or so...

Tire rack has them on closeout as we speak. The fronts are 99 and the rears about a buck and a half each give or take according to size.

I love tire rack. Order by noon and get them next day to my zip. Can't beat that with a stick.

How are they in the rain ? This time of year we get a frog strangler about once a day and horizontal rain occasionally. With wide tires on a light car my concern is aquaplaning.

I have found no negative results using these tires on my OEM rims
They handle well in all conditions other than very cold conditions.
They tend not to grip as well on a cold surface since they are summer tires.
I have found that they handle heavy rains well and disperse the water to prevent hydroplaning.
The other benefit to the 285/35/19 on the rear is that it protects the rime from curb rash if you do get to close to a curb.

I have read that SRT owners do not prefer these but most others here have had favorable comments
There are certainly a lot of tire options out there but these with a closeout pricing are worth a try IMO
As I said I'm on my second set after getting 30,000 miles out of my first set

Today they are at $560.00 before shipping for a full set.

I expect my current tires to be sacrifices on the alter of the fall GTG in Fontana. THE DRAGON!

I plan to order a set to just set aside and install after I limp home.
