General G-Max or Conti DWS
General G-Max or Conti DWS
I've been through a few sets of General G-Max AS-03 and they need to be replaced again. I use the car as a daily driver with 400 miles a week with about 150 of it on the highway. I haven't been unhappy with the G-max, I've averaged 35K on the rears and 50K on the fronts. Noise has been moderate until they have low tread and traction seems to have held until they were wearing out.
I've wanted to try the Dunlop ExtremeContact DWS 06 before but they had been out of stock. Currently both tires are in stock with the Dunlops costing an extra $137 for the set. I'll be ordering tires in about a week and was hoping to get some input. Preferably from someone who has used both tires, but any info on the Dunlops with regard to tread life, road noise and wet handling would be appreciated.

Re: General G-Max or Conti DWS
Im on conti DWS and im happy with them. My car is a DD so I needed an all season tire and the conti DWS have done the job great. I live in atlanta so I cant advise on snow driving (we just shut down when snow comes). As far as rain the grip is great, no hydroplaning as long as you have tread.
Now that is is hot they grip pretty good, I cant blow them off if I want to but seeing as how they are not summer tire I have no complaints. I have mine in stock sizes now and this is my 2nd set.
The prior set I had 285's on the rear and honestly that was to much tire and not worth the extra money and keeping it aligned was a pita. Stock tire sizes they are great and the car just feels more fun to drive.

Had the DWS and I got 44K out of them. Bought a set because of the discount I got from 4 wheel online before. These tires are good in wet and dry, although cornering is not the best. If you are considering these tires, the newer DWS-06 is a good upgrade.
Re: General G-Max or Conti DWS
Sorry for not getting back, I know I didnt get 44k out of mine. Im amazed rogrenz was able to get that since these cars kinda eat tires. I think I might have gotten 25 to 30 k from mine. I put on my car less then 15k miles a year and change tires about every 2 years so im sure it was between 25-30. Front last longer of course.
