Unhappy Brake Noise

Has anyone else experienced a loud brake squeal. It only happens every so often. It sounds like brakes when they are starting to ride on the wear indicator. But I understand the Crossfire doesn't even have such indicators.

I have found that if I just pull the emerg. brake handle up to point of alarm (no pad contact) it will stop.

It would help if we knew where the squeal from coming from, front or back brakes.
Does it only happen when you apply brakes?
Do you use your emergency brake a lot?
From your comment about emerg. brake handle, you must think that the squeal is related to back brake, specifically emerg. brake.??? How many miles do you have on car?

probably just a small stone b/t the pad & rotor. it will work its way out. but...some pads just squeal every so often.

I think the noise does come from the back and its only when the brake is not being applied. When you press on the brakes it stops. Just like it would if it were the wear indicators. It is my understanding this car does not have metal wear indicators.

My car only has 3,000 miles on it. Has done this off and on from beginning.

Sounds like dirt, try running your xf at about 150mph and stopping before a CHP sees you !

If its a stone logged in the pad. The best way I have found of getting them out, short of removing the pads. Is to reverse at about 4-6mph and give the brake peddle a short sharp stamp. So that you do not come to a stop. Usually gets them.

If you are doing a lot of fast driving and brake hard on the highway you will end up with sqweeky brakes.
